Coleman Powerhouse Single Mantle Fuel Lantern - Grey

I used one of these for several weeks while clearing out a drafty old granite shed. I hung it up high, as most light comes out downwards and no light comes out upwards. In a drafty old barn it never made any kind of horrid smell or used up the oxygen. Standing idle in a porch it never made a nasty smell. I must have poured ten litres of petrol into it, and using the supplied filter funnel, never spilt a drop. It was easy to light as long as you have a nice long match, and it lit first time every time. The mantles went on for ages. When I'd finished with it, I replaced the mantles with the clip-on type (which are so easy to fit) and returned it to its owner. The light is very adjustable, though if you find the thing won't work right unless you've got the throttle fully open, you might find (like I did) that the petrol is stale, and has been lying around in a plastic can for years. Fresh petrol works so much better. I was hoping it might warm the dismal old place up a bit but although the lantern gets too hot to touch, it doesn't seem to even take the chill off a damp old shed. I was so impressed with the one I borrowed that I decided to buy one for myself. It was supplied with the tie-on mantles. They're fine, but I've bought clip-on ones for spares. Unlike LED lanterns or old wick-type paraffin lamps, this beastie makes you enough light to work by. Of course, an electric light and a generator would make a brighter light, but this is so much quieter and more portable. Update: Lantern still working well after much use, but have to admit that I just fell into the trap of using up stale petrol again, and it's either full-on or misbehaving. Dear dear, some people never learn!

Top quality. Built like a tank. Cheap to run - my estimate is about an hour at full blast costs max .20p at (expensive) UK fuel prices. Fact that you can use unleaded fuel means you can run it in any part of the world. Its very bright and produces a natural warm light which is claimed to be about the same output as a conventional 175 watt bulb and after running it I can believe this. Price I paid brand new here was less than 2nd hand ones seen elsewhere.! Just cannot think of a single criticism to make.WARNING - some people are buying this to use indoors! Its NOT intended to be used indoors and doing so would be highly dangerous with a risk of fire, burns (it gets hot during use) or carbon monoxide poisoning!

Ordered this a a back stop, just in case the lights go out this winter.Arrived in good time well packaged and once i found my glasses the instructions were simple.The build quality is excelent, and the light it puts out is great. The wife caught me playing with it and was impressed. This lantern is fantastic, cant believe just how bright it is on full power neither can my friends or family.Decided to buy after reading the good reviews here on amazon but as the price is quite high was a little worried that It wouldn't live up to expectations.....no need to worry it blow my expectations away.Lit up the whole garden on full bore and now cant wait to take it away with me camping.Would 100% recommend this lantern

These Coleman lamps are superb for the first 12 months ... but after that the generator will clog up after the unleaded petrol imparts its impurities and clogs it up ... now this is nigh impossible to clean either by heat chemicals or force . .. so its a new generator and service ... In the USA they buy Colelman fuel and use US fuel here in the UK we have additives on our unleaded petrol ... yep you can buy Coleman fuel at stupid prices ,, check it out .. you can run them on Naptha or clean Aspen fuel .. but thats costs18 pound for 4 litres ... they are made for the USA and having a veritable collection of lamps I converted mine to run on kerosene.

You get what you pay for, brilliant bit of kit as long as you know how to operate it, very bright, efficient on fuel all round quality product

Super bright and heavy duty. I have used this item during bbq's which looks great and provides more than enough light. I also use this iten in my non powered garage on a hook screwed into a wooden beam which again lights up the whole garage. Really cool lantern than looks feels like it would last for years.

Die Coleman powerhouse benzinlaterne gefällt mir sehr gut. Sowohl optisch, als auch hinsichtlich ihrer Funktionen. Sie lässt sich in der Helligkeit leicht regulieren und kann sehr hell werden. Der startmechanismus ist auch einfach. Natürlich ist dieser etwas aufwändiger als bei einer Gaslaterne, aber dafür macht die Laterne auch viel mehr Spaß. Sehr zu empfehlen.

Llegó en buenas condiciones en tan sólo 3 días por correo ordinario. Funciona perféctamente. Hay que bombear al inicio y ya funciona sola, incluso cuando vuelves a encenderla aún tiene la presión del día antes. Luz brillante y estable. ¡Cuidado! En sitio interior cerrado se vicia el aire más rápidamente que con el gas. Estoy satisfecho.

La compré para su uso en el campo: permite tener un sistema de alumbrado de excelente calidad sin la dependencia de las botellas de gas. Aparte de ser más económico el uso de gasolina que el de butano, es mucho mas fácil de conseguir. Produce una luz excelente y con un consumo muy bajo. La recomiendo

Cette lampe coleman a pétrole est geniale . elle est très facile à activer , très économique en combustible et lumière intense . Juste un petit bémol , les manchons sont ultra fragiles et le moindre petit choc leur est fatal . Prévoir donc un stock de manchons de remplacement car la lampe n'a pas de coffret rigide de protection comme pour les réchauds .
