How much salt do I need to put in the ball to make ice cream?

it doesn't matter because if you put a lot in, the ice cream will just turn solid faster.

Yes, you could make a vegan ice cream if you used a Almond Milk, coconut, rice, soy, or other similar dairy substitute.

Can I use coarse salt if I don't have rock salt available?

You should be able to use coarse salt like a sea salt. I've made Ziploc ice cream at home and used my Costco salt (grind, grind, grind) to get it done. I would not use regular table salt.

Can you use coconut cream

I will add that it was indeed creamy and silky with coconut milk. Shared with friends camping and everyone was shocked that it was non dairy!
