Cheap but does the job!
A little bit reluctant to get this as it was needed temporary & quick job as such..it didn’t disappoint. Only used it once & it did exactly as it should.. pleased with it.

Easy and Foolproof Way to Check Banknote UV Features
Now that I'm selling some larger items on auction sites, I'm accepting cash paments on collection. It's important that I check the validity of the notes I receive. Checking the ultra violet features can only be done with a UV lmap emitting light at 365 nanometres. There are many other checks that can be done - see the Bank of England website for more information. This unit works perfectly. It's fairly compact, solid enough and very easy to see the UV features when a note is placed under the beam. I imagine buyers won't like me checking their notes but I can't afford to accept counterfeits. Probably one of the most useful purchases I've made recently - am hoping it gets plenty of use!

Good product but short shelf life
After getting sick and tired of attempts to pass forged notes in my shop usually from people deliberately trying to get rid of them I installed one of these visibly at the counter. It's small and it only takes a quick second to glance and verify that the money is legitimate and so doesn't inconvenience the transaction in any way.The only problem is that they have a short shelf life. I've had a few of these now and the typical life span for constant use (on in the morning, off when you close at night) is roughly 3 months. Though after the bulb goes it's easy to purchase a replacement bulb at any electrical/lighting shop or even online at Amazon.Still it's saves me roughly £40 every month so it's worth it. Just having this device in clear display and sticking signs up warning people that it's a criminal offence to knowingly pass on forged money has dramatically reduced the number of people believing that it's ok to try and get rid of forged notes at my business.

Does it's job, and easy to change the bulbs.
As other reviews have stated, the bulbs last anywhere from 4-8 months. The box itself doesn't have a "short shelf life", the bulbs do. But the bulbs can be purchased for around £1 each and (having just done it) take about 3 minutes to replace, so as far as long-term investment goes this is absolutely worth the cost compared to risking fraudulent notes entering your takings.

Does what it says
Works better with little or no light. But does the job.
