Tinderbox (Flashpoint Book 1)

I am stunned at the level of emotions I experienced in this book. From happiness, lust and excitement to heartbreak, pain and hopelessness, I felt it all right along with the protagonists. The entire book is filled with heart-pounding action, angst and steamy, steamy romance. I had to Google a lot of stuff. And I was really impressed with the genuine tidbits of information given here about the extent of destruction and corruption that runs through militant groups like ISIS and the misery they inflict on the common people.🥷 It is heart-wrenching. But after so many hurdles and challenges, Pax and Morgan are finally on the way to their own happily ever after. 🚁💣

I loved, loved Pax and Morgan’s hot suspenseful romance. I fell directly into the story on page one and only looked up after the last word. It was unputdownable. I am always a fan of uber protective capable passionate men - like Pax - being paired with smart brave capable passionate women - like Morgan - who need love more than they need rescuing. This story does that beautifully. All of the unexpected plot twists made for a suspenseful mystery trying to guess who the bad guys were and what was going to happen next. There is a perfect balance between the suspense and the swoony romance. Both are crucial to the ebb and flow of the story. Morgan is an archaeologist working in Africa. Pax is a Green Beret working at a nearby US military base. When Morgan flees to the base trying to save some fossils from a warlord and unknowingly brings a bomb with her, Pax saves her life. This forces them to work together to protect her and the site. The attraction between them is overwhelming but forbidden. Their chemistry sizzled off the page and it pulled them together no matter how hard they tried to resist. The book has a little bit of everything just like you would expect from this genre - sweet moments, strong friendships, spicy times, real life issues, imperfect characters, dangerous moments, mystery, uber protective men, secrets, plot twists, painful pasts, evil actors, and love. The story included witty dialogue, three dimensional characters who grow, and an engaging storyline. I cannot wait to read more in this series.

This was an action packed, adrenaline filled, romantic suspense that I didn’t want to put down. I especially loved how kick ass Morgan was and yet also had a softer feminine side who appreciated her big, burly Green Beret soldier lover. The interesting information about archeology as well as the strife and political turmoil of the Horn of Africa kept this reader hooked until the end. The sexy times were not overdone but maybe a smidge too brief. I just picked up the next 2 of this series and am ready to dive in again!

I love this author's books. They're cleverly thought out and keep you on edge. There's plenty to like. Murder, suspense, romance, comedy, action, friendships. Can't wait to dive right into the next book
