is an American sitcom that originally aired on ABC from September 12, 1978 to May 6, 1982 and on NBC from September 30, 1982 to June 15, 1983. The series won 18 Emmy Awards, including three for Outstanding Comedy Series. It focuses on the everyday lives of a handful of New York City taxi drivers and their abusive dispatcher. Taxi was produced by the John Charles Walters Company, in association with Paramount Network Television, and was created by James L. Brooks, Stan Daniels, David Davis, and Ed Weinberger.I was very young when this was first broadcast on BBC 1 back in the early 80 and only really discovered it with the reruns and paramount comedy channel with the first appearance of Danny De Vito this 25 minutes comedy is a joy to watch and brings back many memories and will be a classic to me. So, it always a pleasure to hail one of these taxis and let it take me anywhere I want to go.

A truly superb sitcom and surely up there with the best of all time.I held off on buying the individual seasons and Im glad I did.Season 2 was released in 2009 and since then, there hasnt been a UK release of the further 3 seasons.This set contains the first UK release of Season 3 - 5.Why four stars?THE PACKAGING. DEAR LORD THE PACKAGING.You get a slipcover, this is fine. The DVDs are housed in a large stacked Scanavo case (Like Mork and Mindy, Futurama, Frasier, Cheers etc)But once you open this case...The horror begins. Each section of the case houses 8 discs. Two at the top, two at the bottom and the same on the reverse. If you want the bottom disc, you need to remove THREE discs to reach it. You can't see all the discs, so I have to remove them all to make sure they were OK.If this doesnt seem like a hassle to you, wait and see how TIGHT each disc is housed. The snapping noise and I removed each disc made me wince. They are insanely tight and very difficult to remove. Somehow though, SEVEN discs were loose in the case when I received it. (God knows how they escaped their Alcatraz prisons)All discs were fine, no scratched.EPISODES PRESENTED IN 4:3 FULL SCREEN. PICTURE QUALITY IS OK.SOUND IS IN MONO.PACKAGING DOES NOT MENTION SUBTITLES. RANDOMLY CHECKED SEASON 3 DISC 1 AND THERE ARE NO SUBTITLES.Contents = PerfectionPackaging = Possibly the worst I've ever owned.

One of my favourite series. I can watch all episodes on any 1 disk in one evening.For me Loui, Alex and Jim are the best here.Elaine and Latka are runners-up.I wish Julie Kavner appeared in more than 1 episode. She is a pure joy to watch.

Poor sound quality makes it a strain to listen to.

A most delightful series. Hasn’t dated at all, still makes my husband and myself laugh out loud.

Fantastic 70s 80s tv show very funny .love marilu ..very funny episodes chris lloyd ..latka... danny de vito... great funny characters ..every cast member is amazing in there roleAlex sorting all there problems as they always come to him for advice..should have gone on for many more years than it did ..alk 5 seasons are very funny and touching ..a real must for american sit coms fans..5 out of 5 ...stars ..go back in time and enjoy this amazing show....

Way better than I remember it, and I thought it was terrific back in 78. Danny deVito is hilarious. Buy it!

This is the best box set I have ever bought. It is the best comedy ever. I highly recommend it.
