Good value - and if it dies don't give up on it too soon!
I bought one of these and used it fairly heavily over about 3 months and it worked very well. Then one day it just stopped working. A few hours later I tried again and after a few attempts it started working. A week or so later it stopped again so I took it apart to see if there was anything obvious such as the brushes. Put it together again with no effect until after a few more attempts it started working again. It may be that there is an overload switch that cuts out due to overheating and then resets by some random process. So for those reviewers who said that theirs had just died I suggest that you try it again. What i can say is that having seen the insides the construction is a lot more robust than the B&D palm sander that I replaced with this type. My current one is still working but I have bought a second one just in case as I consider that the current one has had a fair amount of use and the price is low enough to represent very good value. I would have given it 5 Stars if not for the random cutting out and inexplicable re-start.

Maybe You Get What You Pay For?
At this price it would be churlish to complain but I feel one coming on. This sander does what it is supposed to do - sands things and makes wood smooth. We bought it for our son who needs to do some decorating. It was bought in April and some sons being what they are, he got around to the job in August. To his credit some of the wood has come up as smooth as a baby's bottom - but today the sander just died.I have two problems:Firstly I did not register the sander which may will be a get out for the supplier. The second is a bigger problem; do I let him borrow my Bosch sander which has worked tirelessly for some twenty years, knowing that I might never see it again?A bit of parental wisdom, even when doing your kids a favour, you only get what you pay for!Update: Following this review and a comment on Facebook, Vonhaus were very quick to get back to me and were only too happy to resolve the situation. Amazon also got back to me. We did happily resolve this and both Vonhaus and Amazon deserve recognition for the subsequent customer service. Many thanks.

Good customer service and sander!
The first one broke after several uses (the switch went faulty). But the customer service was great and I had a replacement with 5 days of the fault. It has small triangular pads and is small compared to other sanders, this makes it ideal for awkward areas and small jobs. I have been using the replacement sander successfully for a couple of months now.I did deduct a star because the first one broke down quickly but I can't fault the customer service!

Less vibrations than others.
Not much chance to try it yet but hoping it is better than the similar one (Silverline) I got from Toolstation where the internal wiring kept breaking after 4 years extensive use.Seems more robust and heavier than that one (now deceased) and it certainly don't vibrate as much.Using it to sand outside furniture where there is no mains electric supply, has to be <200W to work off my car battery power station inverter.

Does the job well, although I'm not very experienced. Connects well to the hoover, so all dust goes inside. I must say the sander is quite noisy, so I need to be careful not to disturb my neighbours. I first thought it is a big disadvantage, but I cannot compare it to others, they all might be noisy.

not heavy
liked this easy to use sprayer, you have to get the paint mix just right then works well, not heavy to hold

Decent piece of kit for the price
Seems good up to now. Is a touch awkward to hold in one hand for me, but that isn't the equipments fault. Sands well and gets into those nicks and crannies that are otherwise hard to sand. Happy so far and for the price is a good buy.

OK for the money and light DIY
Well for the money it works well for what its intended. How long will it last for a light DIY tool maybe years if its treated with respect, one thing I have found out about very cheap electric tools use them in short bursts not 20 minuet bursts and keep hands well away from cooling vents, if its hot let it cool some cheap electric tools have plastic cogs inside so give the machine time to cool. Its fairly quiet so shouldn't bother next door neighbor. my last is still going after 3 years but have handed it to my son.
