Foolproof yet inexepnsive way of starting seeds
I ordered this product to propagate some chill seeds, and it did the job in an excellent fashion. (I should add that I am by no means an expert gardener!)Despite my wife's protests I situated it in the kitchen window sill. It was very easy to set up, and quite straightforward to use.Fill the bottom tray with water (but ensure the water level doesn't come over the platform. Place the capillary matting on the platform with one end dangling down into the water. Fill the trays with compost and plant the seeds. Then place the trays on top of the mat, cover with the lid and wait. One tip I found somewhere (possibly in the instructions, possibly online) was that to work effectively you need to make sure the compost is packed down for it to be in contact with the capillary matting when the tray is on the mat. A way to check this is to put the trays on the mat and then lift them up again. If you can see trace amounts of compost on the matting, all is well. If it is clean, you may need to push down a little more to ensure effective contact. All of the chilli seeds I planted sprouted using this propagator, with the added benefit (which is great for me) of not having to remember to water them every day, and not having to worry about over/under watering them. The lid isn't very high so it isn't long before you either need to plant them on, or continue them in these pots but without the lid.A couple of reviewers have mentioned the fit of the lid. It's true - it isn't a snug fit, it just rests on. As long as the propagator is in a low traffic area (and not exposed to the elements) this shouldn't be a problem but it is something to bear in mind if you were planning to have this outside somewhere.Despite being quite light, the propagator is substantial enough to be re-used for several years. I'm not sure how the capillary matting will hold up, but it's possible to buy a small quantity of this (but enough to do about 5 trays probably) for less than £5 online. An excellent purchase and highly recommended.

Does the job
Good value for money, I have now bought 4 of these and I personally thk they do what the are designed for. I wld imagine that they will be able to be used for a few years with perhaps a replacement capillary mat. All my seeds have come up and some have been potted on, yes didn’t come out as easily as I had imagined but with the use of a teaspoon and a bit of patience all was good. I have bought other propagators before and none have been as good as this one. Easy to use and keeps yr seedlings watered at all times, just remember to top up the base tray with water.from time to time.

Transplanting is not effective, albeit the propagator itself is very effective, swings and roundabouts I suppose!
So, this propagator works exactly as you'd think it would; you sow the potting soil, plant the seeds, then let mother nature do the rest. Fantastic! However, from just removing them to be planted into a larger pot, it is rather obvious that they weren't thinking too much about the transfer stage. The individual plugs aren't made in a way that allows easy transfer, as I almost lost one of my plants to the struggle of transplanting it out of the plug. The plastic doesn't have much give (it's rather firm) so you can't really loosen the individual plugs, more-so you have to get a knife and pry around the edges, to which, is rather annoying in itself, but after then loosening with a knife or similar, you have to then essentially scoop it out with the knife. This is what almost cost me a plant, as not only did it not scoop out all of the soil, but with some roots detached in the process, it really does affirm what I stated in the beginning; they only planned this in my eyes for plants that won't need much transplanting. I only had 2 seeds in here, but I couldn't imagine the struggle with all 24 plugs filled.Maybe in the future, bundle in a sort of scoop which allows people to remove their plants from the plugs without risking damaging them, or make the plastic less rigid, so you can squeeze around them to loosen them.Overall on the surface, it is indeed a very effective propagator. However, be cautious when transplanting as it is quite a pain.Cheers!

Great for a forgetful gardener
This has been a great addition to my ‘grow your own’ set. Seedlings came through after being sat in full sun for a couple of days with the benefit of knowing that they wouldn’t dry out due to the capillary matting. I just need a bigger version for when I transplant them now as I am a forgetful waterer!

Disappointed
The positives- all the black plastic is well made and relatively strong. The capillary matting works and you do get condensation in the lid.Negative - as mentioned by other people the lid does not fit. Clearly the measurements were off when it was designed and it will balance on the top, it will not click down either across or lengthways. However the big issue is when you want to transplant your seedlings - as the plastic is quite firm you cannot squeeze the sides to loosen them. The stand can be turned upside down and the "pots" stood on top. Each little pot compartment has a hole at the bottom and the points of the stand can push up into them. So it's designed to push the seedling sections up and out, but the hole isn't larger enough to allow much push up, so it only moves them a few mm if at all...The only thing for it was to get a spoon and scoop out the seedlings, which means you break up the soil around them and cannot get all the soil plug out. My tomato seedlings are now looking very sad in their larger individual pots. I'm so disappointed as you need to transplant seedlings into something at some point! I don't recommend for this purpose, I almost wish I'd bought the cheaper, thinner trays where you can squeeze the plugs out. I was however trying to get something which would last longer to be more eco... So I might be stuck with this thing for the rest of my gardening years (!).

Ben concepita ma veramente fragile
Ben concepita ma veramente fragile la parte superiore nn è rigida per cui si piega e nn fa ottimamente il suo lavoro mentre la parte inferiore e gli accessori sono ben studiati peccato

SUPPORT OUR EUROPEAN BROTHERS (QUALITY MADE)
I am quite please with this item, it's wonderful to seeEuropean Made products, here in the States everything, and I mean everything is cheap CrapSince we no longer produce our own goods (out sourced to the east). Forced to consume subterranean quality, standards, and ethics.Thank you!!!my only complaint is with regards to the plastic dome, mine was a bit dented in the post via transport, however the trays themselves will hold for years. Well done. PROST!!
