It works!!!!
I was skeptical, but thought worth a try- so glad I did!! I think my Labrador has good hair for it. Had brushed with a normal comb, bathed and brushed again with normal comb before this got delivered, and we still caught more!! Very satisfying, it gives off a noise while working, as soon as you get one the noise stops. No more fleas jumping away before you can get them. Just wipe it off and go again. I can’t speak for the longevity of it, as only used once, but so far I’m impressed.

Yes it DOES work, but read below!
So. Before buying I read a LOT of reviews as they all seemed to say it was amazing, or useless. So. I’m going to give a proper objective review to help others. This item is actually not as bad as a lit of people make out. Not perfect, but, actually pretty good. So the noise it makes isn’t too bad, could scare some animals, but didn’t scare mine so that’s good. The comb prongs could be a little longer - my fat is a domestic short hair and the hair is too thick and long in places for the prongs to reach the skin. But, if you change the angle of the comb so it’s perpendicular to the skin it works fine (and as it’s electrified it doesn’t need to be at an angle to lift fleas out - as soon as they touch it they are electrocuted). The battery cover build quality isn’t great but to be honest it doesn’t fall off. And if it does, it looks easy to tape up. It comes with a little cleaning brush to get fleas, flea dirt and fur off the comb which works well. So. Down to whether it works or not. Yes. Mostly! Probably 80% of the time it kills fleas on contact. The noise means that current is flowing. And when something makes a short circuit (like a flea) the sound stops. This indicates you’ve got something caught in the comb. So lifting the unit away from the animal will show you what you’ve got. Mostly it’s a flea but sometimes the unit will stop because of flea dirt or other particles in the fur. About 20% of yhstime though the flea is stunned and not completely electrocuted so best to just check. But they certainly aren’t capable of jumping away so are easy to kill. The only recommendation I would give is to regularly clean fur and dirt off the unit as it will not electrify again until the short circuit is removed - IE, the dead flea is removed. Also if the comb is full of fur then it can push the flea away from the electrified prongs and mean it doesn’t get electrocuted at all. And then it will jump away. So. Comb a few times, then clean the comb, then carry on. And for fur that seems too long or thick, just part it and do it in small chunks. Then this does exactly what it says it does. Overall I completely recommend it! It really does work as long as you bare the above comments in mind.

Works well
Very impressed with this. I worried that it might be one of those gadgets that sounds great but doesn't really meet the advertising claims, but it does in fact work well. I've got three cats. One won't let me use it on him at all, he just thinks it's a toy and tries to bite it (though he does that with a normal comb too) but the other two are fine with it. One of them starts purring as soon as she hears the buzz and just lies there in seventh heaven while I groom her, so it's evidently quite comfortable for the cats. As soon as the buzz stops, you know you've caught a flea in the comb, so then all you need to do is stop combing and wipe the tines clean. I did find that a few of the fleas seemed to be stunned rather than killed, but it was easy enough to pass the comb over them again to finish the job! I'd recommend this as a workable alternative if you don't want to use chemicals. It's not cheap, but then neither are the chemical ones. Once you've made the initial outlay the only ongoing cost is the batteries. I'm very satisfied and glad I bought it. Update Aug 2020: it's still going strong!

Good but the battery compartment needs looking at.
I purchased one of these in desperation, as I found fleas on my two cats and dog despite using Frontline. When you can get it to work correctly it is an amazing little gadget and does exactly what they claim and I have managed to get rid of quite a few fleas. The battery compartment is very tight for the batteries though and they do not fit particularly well and connection is then lost, it is difficult to get the compartment lid back on once the batteries are in and you have to try and slide them in side by side rather than separately otherwise it is difficult to get them to fit at all and because of the tight space the batteries become damaged, ie the plastic round them gets roughed up and sometimes small pieces come off. I love this gadget and hope the people that supply it will take note and improve it slightly, I would most definately buy another and will persevere with this one until they do. It most certainly is preferable to chemicals on my animals.

Terrible
Really awful. Used Duracell but even so it doesn't really make the noise to show it's working

Highly recommended
I'm really impressed so far. I didn't think my cat had any fleas after regularly applying flea killing pippettes but clearly I was wrong. I was skeptical at first of this until I read the reviews and then thought I'd give it a go. It has worked better than I expected. On the first comb through I got 3 small fleas duly zapped by the minor electric current and the next time I got 3 more! Sometimes it just stuns them so you have to touch them again with the zapper and then they die (sorry fleas but this is probably the quickest way to go for you). There is a slight hum of the zapper as you comb through the fur at a 45 deg angle, which thankfully didn't bother my cat (who can be a right pussy sometimes!) and then it stops humming when it picks up too much dirt or a flea so you know you've got one. I'm super impressed so far and my cat doesn't mind it. If your cat has very long fur then it won't be that easy to use unless you pull the hair back like grooming a long haired dog as you need the comb's teeth to get as close to the body as poss.

Not fit for purpose
I purchased this as an alternative to using chemicals and what could go wrong with something supposedly from the brand name of Epilady, the answer is just about everything. As another reviewer has said, the batteries don’t fit well and the unit itself is fairly cheap looking plastic which does not look as though it would last long. I did get it to switch on and there is a very high pitched whine but no noticeable vibrations, my cat didn’t seem to mind so I combed it through his coat, just one stroke, it detected something as the whine stopped but after checking the comb, the flea it found was not dead but I managed to brush it into a bowl of hot water to get rid of it. The unit would not switch back on until I opened the battery compartment and removed and replaced the batteries, whine started again, one more stroke through cats coat, would not switch back on and I gave up with it after the third time of trying. Complete waste of money, if you want to go down the no chemical route, get yourself a good flea comb and use a bowl of hot water with some washing up liquid in it, you’ll get more of the little blighters with one pull of the comb through your cats coat and the hot water/washing up liquid will get rid of them..

Wish I’d bought it sooner!!
I love this zapper and have been raving about it to my family ever since I purchased it. 3 months we’ve had fleas in the house. I’ve tried everything possible. We have 2 cats and one little pup so it’s a never ending cycle of combing, vacuuming, cleaning, dog washing and treating everything each day. Trying to comb all 3 but only being able to bathe one fur baby was becoming too much. The cats are 10yrs old and too set in their ways of escaping each and every attempt of bathing I’ve tried. ( plus I value my hands way too much to be shredded by the talons) This has literally changed my routine. One hand rubs their ears and the other electrocutes the nasty little pests. All you do is comb, catch, pop them and wipe the corpses off the comb. It’s easy to hold, use and clean, works instantly, plus all 3 now LOVE being brushed. (Also, it’s immensely satisfying watching the little b*****ds fry) Don’t get any other brand but this one.

grande delusione
