Clanrye Bagpipe Reed Synthetic EASY Strength With Tube

The Clanrye reed basically has kept me bagpiping. After a long break, I decided to get back into it, and the consistency of the synthetic reed makes life easier. Cane reeds sound a bit better, but I grew tired of them getting harder and softer, having to wet them, deal with pitch alterations when the temperature goes up or down, having to mess with them to get any consistency out of them -- and if you're NOT playing every day (as I'm not) it turns piping from a joy into a grind. The Clanrye fixed that problem for me. I got an easy reed and a medium reed. They sound good -- a hair thinner than a good cane reed, but it still very much sounds like a bagpipe. I'm happy.

The first reed I ordered needed to be sent back because they sent me the wrong one. They were nice about it, though. The correct reed is OK. It seems so delicate. I am so afraid of damaging it. I hope it lasts a long time. It wasn't cheap.

Worked well, usually have to travel to find one

Mine was a ok reed until it broke -split a piece off at the top-and no I didnt drop chip or hit it on anything...It only lasted 6 months .....They are easier to blow and they are great for a piper with low lung capacity or a young or elderly piper...but they dont do well with a band as they dont have the same qualities as a cane reed. But for my purposes it worked until it broke which was sooner than I would have liked..Ive seen cane reeds get longer life...
