Great peace of mind in a great little package
I got one of theses as every parent does. After setting it up and allowing for an 8hour charge i found it to be really easy to use and has great results. the receiver works great and is very loud and clear it also has a great range, just rem to turn it on when you are away from the mic end other wise you get a loud feed back buzz. All in all i would reccomend this to any parent as they are a great peace of mind

Credit where it's due
I felt moved to write a quick review as I have had a lot of trouble getting a baby monitor that I feel comfortable with.My needs are simple:-need good sound quality, sensitivity - and for it to have a threshold setting so it is not 'always on'-good battery life-I need it to feel reliable. I need to just be able to trust it-temperature read-out of my daughter's room.I was delighted to get this monitor. It does all these things really well and has been utterly dependable.I don't personally need the nightlight, lullabies, intercom but they all work fine if that's helpful for your own needs.Recommended. Does everything I need and does it simply and well. Recommended.

Pretty much all the baby monitors we considered had mixed ...
We were in two minds about which baby monitor to buy. Pretty much all the baby monitors we considered had mixed reviews at best.We went with this one for reasons mostly down to the price and features that it has. We've been using the monitor for about 8 months now. Mostly the experience has been a good one.The monitor has an option to have it either sound activated or constant. We've always used the constant setting, for no reason other than that's what it was already on when we got it. Its very sensitive to say the least, it picks up our son sighing in bed from a metre or so away. It has a talk back button, which we've never used but it works fine, a button that plays music, which we've also never used but, again, works fine (albeit not very sleep-inducing, sounds like a trumpet) and it has a very dim night light. We don't use the night light as we don't want our son to rely on it but i can imagine its a good brightness for sleeping. The main feature (other than the sound) that has come in handy, has been the fact that the temperature of the babies room shows on the parent unit. It is pretty accurate and it is very useful. There are alot of reviews about 'disco lights' which i personally think is untrue. Yes, the monitor flashes bright when the baby cries, but presumably, that wouldn't last long and it only flashes with relatively loud noises. Other than that, the only light that is on the parent unit is a green glowing light and fades in and out constantly. I find that as long as you turn it away so that it is not facing you, it is perfectly fine and it doesn't by any means keep me awake.I've found that the one downfall of this monitor, is the battery. The battery life is not very good, at all. At the moment, it can last on about 6 hours of battery, which- considering it is supposed to monitor all night, is not great. I have a very small house, so leaving it on charge is not an issue for me as i can hear it at all times and i just stick it on charge upstairs when i go to bed, although i can see why this would definitely be a problem for those who have multiple rooms to navigate and need to take the unit with them.It does make a loud beeping noise when the battery is getting low, and when you plug in the charger, not great either, but it has never woke my son up yet so it could be an issue for some, but not for me.I also found the belt clip to not be great. On my device its very loose and just falls off me.With all that in mind, it could be better- but all monitors seem to have a large list of pros and cons, i think the positives outweigh the negatives and i would buy this monitor again.

Would highly recommend
We previously used a Tomy monitor when our first child was born 5 years ago and although the days of using the monitor have long gone, we still use the baby unit as his night light which just goes to show that this brand does in fact last!So it's no surprise that we decided to purchase another Tomy monitor for baby number 2!Firstly as we have only ever used this brand we are very much used to the "sound" effects of the parent unit and the "disco lights" other reviewers have mentioned so this doesn't really bother us. I actually find the sounds reassuring as for example, if the unit didn't beep continuously if it was to lose connection for whatever reason then I would be woken by distant cries in the night and panic about how long my child had been crying for! And the unit makes a noise when adjusting volume to let you know how loud the sound of your baby will be when it comes through on the monitor which is very useful. As for the lights.....I really like how bright the baby unit night light is compared to our old model as it was more of a "glow" previously and I would still need to use a lamp in the nursery for night time feed etc where as now it produces a lovely bright light which is prefect for the night feed without being so bright that it hurts yours or your baby's eyes. The only downside of this monitor is the green pulsing light on the parent unit, I don't really see the need for it as you can tell the monitor is still connected etc by the LED screen or sound alerts. As for the battery....I can't really comment on its current life span as it's still brand new but from previous experience of our older model we did need to change the battery of the parent unit once in the 3 years that we used it but no battery lasts for ever no matter what monitor you buy and for the amount of use we had out of it, it was expected. The handset of the old monitor did eventually give up on us but it was the LED lights that stopped working but as it happened we no longer had use for it so didn't need to replace it.The baby unit of our old unit is still working today and that is run off mains and haven't had any issues with the adapter. This instilled us with the confidence to purchase the same brand again. The design....I love how lightweight the parent and baby units are compared to our older model. We haven't had any issues with the parent unit falling over. Our old model used to have a charging base so we love that it's just a lead that now charges it as it takes up less room on bedside table.Overall this monitor is great value for money and is covered by a 2yr guarantee by Tomy so if something did happen to go wrong then you're covered. I would recommend this to any parent who isn't looking for an "all signing, all dancing" monitor as it does what it's meant to do and that is clear sound and safety alarm alerts for piece of mind.
