Good sized baking/roasting bags
Since these bags are a good size and quite cheap I thought I would try using them as proofing bags for bread making. You get two good sized bags in a pack and a couple of ties to seal them off. They worked well as proofing bags. I was using a larger than normal bread pan with 700g of flour rather than the usual 500g but the bread pan still fitted with room to spare. I inflated the bag around the dough by blowing into it and then sealing it using the provided tie.Once the bread had successfully proofed, it rose well with no skin on it since the bag kept it moist, I decided I would try baking the bread still in the bag to see how it went. I set my electric fan oven to 200 degrees C and once heated up I put the bread in still in the bag. Initially the bread increased in size very nicely as the gas expanded and with no skin on the bread I didn't need to slash it across the top. Unfortunately the bag deflated after about 10 minutes. After 20 minutes I took the bread out of the bag and the tin and returned it to the oven to get crusty. At this point I realised that the far corner of the bag had melted against the back of the oven.So the lessons are, these bags are cheap and work well as proofing bags for bread. You can also bake the bread in the bag which avoids needing a steam oven, however they will melt if they contact the hot surfaces of the oven.I think next time I'll try putting the bread into the bag with the corners of the bag positioned vertically rather than horizontally so that the corners don't contact the back of the oven.

Why have dry meat?
Do you have a relative that makes a Sunday roast? Is the meat they make always drier than a fish crawling through the desert on its bottom? This may be a solution. Put the meat in the oven with a collection of spices and marinades and it will be as if you spent hours basting it. For once that Sunday roast will be palatable.

Moist Meat, Saves on the Cleaning
Been using these a while now and usually purchase from Wilko however I needed a bigger size for the Christmas turkey. Never been good at cooking turkey but I was determined to have soft, moist turkey last Christmas (although hardly big on that season, just family 'expectations') and was extremely pleased with the outcome and actually ate some, having never been a fan of turkey ever. It also minimises the clean up, you have to remember to clip off a corner of the bag for steam to escape and this also helps with browning of whatever meat you are cooking. The juices, of which there is usually a high volume, is perfect for making the accompanying gravy and has more of a depth in the flavour due to the cooking process. Even if you split the bag when turning or whatever, because the juices and meat have not been cooked onto the surface of the oven tray/dish, it is still easy to clean up.

Great for moderate size turkey
Did the job, cooked a 5kg turkey with plenty of room to spare so guess would take 6kg or more. Kept the meat juicy and stopped the oven getting in a mess. I’d use this product again

Excellent bags for that big bird.
I have used these bags and similar ones for many years I find they keep the meat moist and cut down considerably on any mess or spill helping to keep the oven clean (always a bonus) These are perfect for a large turkey but could also be used for large meat joints/cuts they are strong and easily secured with the enclosed ties.

Big enough for a large turkey
Christmas dinner without stressing over the turkey. Cooks quicker than when wrapped in foil. Breast down in the bag on a rack, all the juices retained, no dryness, just succulent slices of turkey. The secret may be to let the turkey "rest" before carving. I take the cooked turkey out of the oven and keep it warm under layers of clean tea towels. Then I finish cooking the vegetables (turn the oven up very high for the roasts) and make the gravy, before carving the turkey. Result - crispy roasts, fresh vegetables and the best turkey ever.
