Sturdy, Fit For Purpose, Cool Colours
I'm very pleased with my new backpack. This is the second Berghaus I've had - the first lasted 5 years but was stolen. After daily use, it didn't look very much different to when I bought it, really.I like this new one in black, so fashion as well as usefulness. This is a simple, robust, backpack and does not have masses of pockets - it's exactly as described in the blurb. For me it's ideal because I take it to work each day and on work trips around the UK. There's a section for my laptop, and another inside for zipping passports and boarding passes etc securely inside. The rest of the bag I use for purse, make-up bag, kindle, yoga leggings & hoodie, and it takes these with ease. I've got one of those slim gym towels in a bag and the Berghaus has a clip on the outside apparently designed specifically to hold that when the towel's wet on the way home. One of the best features is the in-bag key ring, great for easy access when you're arriving home after dark.On the outside, I can fit a water bottle and a flask of soup in the two side pockets. There's a front pouch suitable for a hydration bag which luckily I don't need on the London metro, but I find it invaluable for sticking my boarding passes and bag of declarable liquids etc into when going through security at the airport. This bag counts as hand luggage on all the airlines I've used and, if not too overloaded, as the 'extra' bag allowed by Aer Lingus. Also it counts as an 'inside' bag on National Express coaches and thus travels free. For me, one of the best things about my old Berghaus was the construction of the straps which minimise back ache on a decent length walk, pluse the anti-sweat fabric on the back. I'm glad to see these are replicated in the new bag.Berghaus is a proper local firm located in Tyne & Wear and I'm glad I could get BackPack II from them. However, I shall report back if there are any negatives in due course.

Perfect condition after 5 years daily use!
This is a great backpack. I cycle to the supermarket and fill it with heavy shopping 2 or 3 times a week and all the zips and stitching is still perfect after 5 years. Used it for 100s of gym trips, low hundreds! and usually popping into Lidls next door so I cycle there, the 6 miles home with damp gym gear and weighty meat and veg no problem (other than being exhausted from the exercise!). the 'flow technology' seems to work well so my back is no stickier than the rest of me after a hard ride.At only 25L I probably make more shopping trips than I might, but I love fresh veg (and bread) so I'm not complaining. My15.6 laptop fits in fine when needed and the inside padding makes it comfortable. I usually put a small towel or something shock absorbant on the bottom in case I drop the bag but if I put it in the pocket that lines the back inside, it's off the bottom.Only one small inside zip pocket isn't perfect but it's there so I put a spare bank card in it in case I forget or lose my wallet. which happens to me too often! I safely tie bags onto the outside straps sometimes which works even if it might make me look a bit daft. The side pockets are great for water or even wallet and phone for just local shopping trips. The 24/7 plus has a clip fastening largeish pocket on the back, which again can be useful for damp towels or litter after a picnic, whatever. This is probably the first product review I've written on here despite at least one order a week over 10 years plus, (usually wanting to keep good ideas to myself!), but reading other reviews and thinking I might benefit from another bigger one of the same I concluded I don't need another and it was £28 very well spent 5 years ago.Again referring to another review it usually stands up happily on its own unless your packing prevents that. Don't know if I'm allowed but it cleans up like new on a gentle wash!NB. These are pictures of a 5-year-old well used and loved backpack

Lightweight, comfortable, well made sturdy bag
I originally bought this bag to go running with however I will be using it a lot more than that now. While there of space for items in the bag the front compartment seems a little useless as there is no zip keeping thing in. There is only a simple bucket securing it. And there is no internal compartments actually inside the bag for separation of items. There are 2 bottle holders on the side of the bag and also a water hole for a camel pack at the top of the bag.The shoulders and back are very padded so it makes wearing the bag very comfortable even when carrying around gym weights and running. The ability to alter the size around the shoulders and clasp around your chest means you can get a comfortable fit without the extra clasp that larger more expensive bags have around your waist. The bag is lightweight yet very sturdy great bag for multiple different activities. I will probably be using this as my main rucksack now as it such a useful bag. Would highly recommend.

Good rucksack for moderate hikes.
Lightweight but not to the detriment of durability. Handy pockets although I could have done with a few more zip up ones I was delighted to be able to carry 2 water bottles externally without issues. Comfortable for medium trecks. I found if the thing was very full the breathable back area didnt work so we took care not to fill to capacity. I found the straps ok until we did a really long hike then the chest strap chafed a bit. Probably better for a male shape. Over all I am delighted. I may buy the next size up if it has a waist strap as that would certainly add to the comfort on longer walks. We only had a little rain and it was fine. Cant mark it higher as we didnt experience a downpour or prolonged rain and I dont want to mislead anyone. This is ideal for day hikes. What we placed in it didnt get overly warm. The additional places to attach things are handy for solar panels however anything too heavy caused discomfort. It is good value while the offer is on. Not sure I'd have even loomed at it full price. It's no good for carrying lots of items due to the strap position across the chest.
