Yes! The chair seats fit under the table and the back of the chairs sit flush with the table.

Does the shelf get in the way when you're sitting down?

No it doesn't at all, I use my shelf to keep place mats handy. Love this set, at a bargain price as well.

Will it mark with hot drink

Mine has never marked sometimes I use a mat to put drink on.

do you have any table and chairs that dont have to be put together.I am incapable of doing that.
