Yes it opens on very fragile wooden hinges built into the frame and the door.

Q: I want to put this on the kitchen baseboard iin my cottage. Could I glue it to the baseboard?

Hi, yes it would glue to your baseboard with no problem. We'd recommend using wood glue, and if you're likely to get your fairy door wet (for example if it's a washable floor) we'd recommend a quick coat of exterior-grade varnish to keep your fairy door looking pristine.
