Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Bloomsbury Publishing)

I pre-ordered this book from Amazon, and did not expect it to arrive it on the day of release (Saturday 21st July). I was expecting to recieve it on the monday or tuesday, but I was surprised when I came home from work at one in the afternoon that saturday when it was released, to find that my copy had arrived. I'm not a Harry Potter fan or anything, though I do love the books. The Harry Potter series is the best books I've ever read; not just the stoies in general, but the way they're written. They don't drag as you read, yet they're not rushed either. A really fun read they are. They're the sort of books I can spend hours and hours reading. From the moment my copy arrived, I was sitting down reading the book and it was just over midnight when I put the book down for the day (I was just slightly more than half way through). I would've actually spent the whole evening reading if I had to, and I'm sure I probably wouldn't have put it down until I finished, and I ain't bullsh***ing about that either. The only thing that made me put it down that evening was the fact I had work the following morning. During work that Sunday, I wanted nothing more than to finish my shift and get back home to the book. As soon as I finally did I was back to reading the book and I finished it (about seven in the afternoon) that same day. The book I found simply amazing, from start to finish. There are twists throughout the story and certain gaps are filled, such as the identity of R.A.B, who stole Voldemort's horcrux and replaced it with a fake, which at the end of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince", Harry and Dumbledore took. The book in general isn't just the best, but the most different out of the lot, the reason being that the first six are set in Hogwarts, where this one isn't (not until the very end anyway). This book I had been looking foward to reading ever since I read book 6 (HPAT Half-Blood Prince). Off course I knew that the release of this book was an extra two years ahead. Book 6 ended with Dumbledore's murder (Snape was the culprit) and Harry's decision to never return to Hogwarts for his seventh year, but instead to continue on Dumbledore's mission (which he is certain Dumbledore left him) of finding Voldemort's remaining Horcruxes. As far as Harry and Dumbledore were aware of there were only six horcruxes in total; Tom Riddle's diary and Marvolo's ring had been destroyed. That leaves Helga Hufflepuff's cup, Salazar Slytherin's locket, Nagini (Voldemort's pet snake), and something that belonged to Rowena Ravenclaw. This book like the previous 5 starts of in the summer holidays (book 1 as you remember actually begins in November, that's why I've said previous 5 books, not 6). The Dursley's get moved elsewhere, due to Voldemort and the Death Eaters and Harry is waiting for some wizards to escort him to the Burrow. The day after Harry's 17th birthday, during Fleur and Bill's wedding, Voldemort siezes the Ministry of Magic, Death Eaters attack and Harry, Ron and Hermoine are forced to escape, where they begin their qeust to find and destroy Voldemort's horcruxes. To make things tougher, wizards are after Harry, so he must keep a low profile and avoid been seen. Nevertheless, Hermoine and Ron stand by him and help him out in this mission to destroy those horcruxes. This book is without doubt the best of the lot, though there are sad moments and many deaths throughout the book. I won't tell you wether or not Harry does die or succeeds in killing Voldemort, but I will tell you this; the ending is brilliant, and the final battle against the Death Eaters is similar to the one at the end of book 6. It will be a few short years when this book is made into a film, which I look foward to seeing, although I know it won't be anywhere as good as the book. If you've never read any of the books before and wish to read this, then I suggest that you read the first 6 first. These are the following titles... Harry Potter and the... ...Philosopher's Stone (6th best) ...Chamber of Secrets (5th best) ...Prisoner of Azkaban (7th best) ...Goblet of Fire (4th best) ...Order of the Phoenix (2nd best) ...Half-Blood Prince (3rd best) Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is an excellent book and like I've mentioned in the title for this review, the best one out of the lot. I plan to (not yet but soonish) to re-read all seven books again. Excellent books you'd be crazy to not even consider reading them. I urge you to get this book now.

The book was incredible. Once you start reading it, you can't put it down. The seller advertised it as used-good, but it arrived in excellent condition(as good as new)

Bought it for my grandaughter who is a big fan

DOES CONTAIN SOME SPOILERS! And so the greatest literary saga ever written comes to a close. J K Rowling, probably the most read children's author ever, had a lot of fans to please and a massive weight on her shoulders to deliver something epic and awesome in equal measures. With Deathly Hallows she has definitely done that, this book could not be any bettter, it is moving, action packed, epic, entertaining, very well written and unbelievably fast paced. The descriptions are vivid and engrossing as are the characters. The events throughout are original and so well described you feel you are actually riding the cart through Gringotts or fighting beside the students of hogwarts as they battle to defend their lives and their school. Never has a series of books been so involving and engrossing - it is impossible not to be swept up in the wizarding world and become lost for a few chapter every night in this halls of Hogwarts or the forest of dean or the winding streets of Diagon alley. While i was reading this book the pages seemed to fly by as if they were enchanted to do so, i lapped up this final installment in the series with great enthusiasm and it never failed to have me reaching for it every night and yearning for it when i was in school. There was not a moment, whilst reading this, that i was not entertained or engrossed - i literally had to force myself to put it down at two in the morning when i should have been sleeping. As usual the story seems to be well thought out and very pleasing. Rowling uses her boundless imagination to deliver a roller coaster ride through thoroughly brilliant chapters. Each of the chapters gets subsequently better and seem vastly shorter than they are in truth. The final battle of hogwarts is gripping and brilliantly paced, the action (never overdone) blends seamlessly with the emotion and I truly could not put this book down. The revelation that Snape sent the silver doe, that he had vowed to Dumbeldore to protect Harry and that he was not in fact in league with Voldemort were a stroke of genius and a very wise plot twist to include. The Harry Potter novels and films have been a massive part of mine and millions of other peoples lives and Rowling could not have ended this phenomonal series any better. It has been unbelievable growing up in Hogwarts and the wizarding world and though it is over a part of me will never leave the Gryffindor common room and the big old castle that was our chance to be a part of something unique and completely extraordinary. Well done J K Rowling and thanks for making my childhood so much more.

I have listened to all of them now. I love the actors chosen for the characters, they really bring dimension to them. I love the narrator too, she's easy to listen to and her voice flows nice with a lovely tone. Listen to it in the car on long or short journeys, out the back garden whilst relaxing in the sun, or on a bus trip., just stick your earbuds in, or headphones on or where ever and when ever you like. I'm a fan of audio drama's anyway, and this one is certainly worth it.

It is a very interesting book and I love the ending of it the hero of the wizarding world but I have to say that Amazon has damaged the book. It has had a a page ripped a little and a bit of the book is a bit bent it must’ve happened when delivering it, but otherwise the book itself is a brilliant..

Best book series, very happy

Just finished the book yesterday. It was brilliant! A true literary classic which will be re-read over & over again. It has been a good 10 years journey with tears & laughter following harry & his pals through their adventures. I will miss them, all of them. I wish though, their story will go on & on & on forever. And I was right in believing that the half-blooded prince was never that bad. The Prince was never that evil as everyone has thought him to be. He turn out to be as courageous or even more as any other characters in Harry Potter's world. A perfect ending to the story like how it should be.

Allow me to begin by saying I refuse to spoil any part of any of these books for anyone for any reason. If you haven't read the books, stop here, buy them, read them, return... That being said, instead of detailing the book (as I normally would in a review) I'll recount my own experience: I pre-ordered this book when it first became available to do so. At that time, I had not read any of the books, but had seen the first four movies based upon the books. I promptly purchased the 6 books which precede the Deathly Hallows and read them.. the Order of the Phoenix I read three times, the Half Blood Prince I read twice and completed my second read one week prior to the release of the Deathly Hallows. I was intent on reading the series and this final book before anyone could spoil the ending for me. You see, I had already learned the fate of ... some of the characters involved in OOP and HBP, because there are people in this world who live off of the pleasure of ruining things for other people. I was determined to read the series and this final book before some loud mouth jerk could ruin it for me. I succeeded. With one week to go for the book release I began thinking that perhaps all these questions swelling inside of me - is Snape friend or foe? where are the horcruxes? will Harry live? - and so many other questions did not need answering. The magic of this series was in bringing out the discussion, the last few months (well over a year, actually) have had fans on the edges of their collective seats, casting about all kinds of theory and conjecture, ideas born of the tiniest details about mundance things. The magic - the true magic of it all - was in bringing together generations of readers in discussion about one of our era's literary masterworks. One week to go to get the book, and I was telling myself that I'd rather not read it, that I'd rather put it neatly on a shelf, so that no matter what happens to who, the magic would always live on, the dicussions would never end, the theories and conjectures would continue to bind readers together. A very noble, yet unrealistic notion, I agree. I had my fears that certain characters would die, and in not reading this book, I theorized that they would live forever if I never read about their deaths. The evening prior to the book's release, my daughter attended a Potter party at a Barnes & Noble book store. She is not a fan - she likes the movies, but she's not a fan of science fiction or fantasy, and has refused to read the books. Okay. She's entitled to her tastes. But she attended the party because some of her friends are Potter fans. I sat home, jealous that I wasn't a teenager and therefore way too old to attend a Potter party. I should have gone, I regret not going - the last of the Potter hooplas, the last Hallow's Ball. At any rate, my daughter brought home a wand and some Potter glow-in-the-dark eye glasses for me. I would like to have gone, but how sad is it to see a 40-something woman dressed as a witch for a Potter party? Perhaps not sad at all, but I feared being the oldest witch at the party... At midnight, I leaped from my seat and counted down the 60 seconds to the 12:01am mark of release of the book. My husband, who is use to my insane moments such as this, simply looked at me and nodded off. The next day - delivery day! - I cleaned every square inch of my house waiting for the UPS delivery van to pull up and bring me my book. I started cleaning at 8am... the book arrived at 4pm. A full day of scrubbing everything around me in a vain attempt to make the time go faster so that the book would finally arrive. I knew that once the book did arrive, nothing would get done. I had two hours to read the opening chapters of the book, because we had planned to make an excursion to a drive-in movie theater that evening to see the Order of the Phoenix movie. I very reluctantly put the precious book down for the evening. Sunday, July 22nd: the day I was able to spend every waking hour with Harry Potter and Co. I gathered the book, a bottle of water, a blanket and pillow, and headed out to my backyard where I have a hammock which hangs by a stream, overlooking a deep patch of woods. My own Forbidden Forest, of sorts. It is now Tuesday afternoon, and the book is completed. I spent some time re-reading chapters before completing the book, just to make sure I had fully absorbed everything. It is a wonderful book, it answers just about everything you'd want answered. There are some questions which are left open, and perhaps JKR did this to keep alive the discussions, or perhaps these questions are answered already (and the books need to be re-read). But mostly everything you'd want answered is indeed answered, albeit some things are way off from what many of us believed. Some, however, are right on. I recall several times yelling outloud, "I knew it!" There were MANY times when I sat here with a hand over my mouth, in stunned awe at what I was reading. And still, there were plenty of times I burst out crying. No disappointment in the way this book was written, the way the whole story comes to its fruition, or the way the characters who survive, survive. And that little "crack" that JKR says she slipped in there incase she wanted to return to the 'wizarding world?' Yes, I even liked that (I don't normally). It works. It all works. It all makes perfect sense, and it could not have ended any other way. Thank you - thank you - thank you - JKR. Thank you for such a wonderful fantasy, a wonderful world and this awesome, incredible boy, Harry Potter. Thank you.

What do i even write for a review of a book? Love the HP books, came in good condition. Years later it is still a book on my shelf🤯
