The weights etc are chrome plated and their circular flat surfaces are covered in a thin vinyl layer that matches the handle. **Q: Are there additional matching plates available for purchasing?** A: I have looked and been unable to find any. I have looked at the ProIron websites, and they seem to make it as a set only. From the design, the 3 plates overlap so that they do not scratch each other - they would have to make either a larger or smaller plate to avoid scratching, which they do not appear to do. Shame really.
