MarvelLegendary - Deck Building Game

Legendary: A Marvel Deck Building Game is a fun deck building game for two to four players I added to my collection a few months ago and I really enjoy it. This is the first game I've bought in the deck building genre.Players start with a deck of poor quality SHIELD member cards who can either provide buying power for better cards or attack power to defeat villains that get revealed most turns. The aim is for each player to build up their deck with synergistic super hero cards to be able to accumulate enough damage to defeat the super villain. This all has to happen before the game runs out of villains to throw at the players and before other possible defeat conditions are met, such as villains leaving the city with enough innocent bystanders.The games difficulty level can vary wildly based on the number of players, the selected mission, super villain and available heroes available to recruit. This flexibility also keeps the game fresh, though.I would recommend 3 players as the best number to reduce down-time, as there's little to do between turns. I also find that 4 player games can also be considerably more difficult as players have weaker decks for longer, making it easier for villains to escape the city, often contributing to or directly triggering the end of the game.When preparing a game, the villain deck is built based on the number of players present, so can result in a hefty setup time when running a spontaneous game, especially if randomly determining which heroes and villains to use.The rules are very easy to pick up and the game has good art work. I'm disappointed that every instance of every super hero has identical art with a different coloured border though. Unique art for each instance would have been a nice touch.The box comes with a high quality plastic insert and plenty of cardboard dividers to organise cards. There's even space left over for expansions, though I sleeved my cards with 100 micron thick sleeves, which has taken up almost all the available space. I feel that this is necessary, as I suspect that the basic cards in every starting deck will probably get worn and be obvious when reshuffling the decks over and over again per game. Nevertheless, I'm happy that my sleeved set fits so well. I'm a bit worried about what might happen to my well organised cards if I carry the box on its side with the insert, so I'm not confident on portability if carrying the game somewhere.Over all I really enjoy this game. Building a deck of heroes with good synergy is good fun and game's theme is solid. I wish there was a little more interaction with other players though, but this doesn't spoil it. I would definitely recommend this game but would recommend preparing the hero and villain decks and the mission in advance of planned games.

Initially this takes time to setup as the cards need to be separated and organised to allow swift setup from that moment onward (provided the cards and box don't get thrown around).The idea of the game is to defeat the criminal mastermind (there's 4 to choose from) before the scheme is played out, there's a variety of different schemes so there's plenty of replay value there.You have a host of well known heroes that you can build up your decks with but it's cool to theme them as well, depending on the mastermind you face.It's not a difficult game to play but success is far from being guaranteed.Components are decent, though it's just cards and a board.Artwork is great and text is clear, though I feel that the abilities sometimes are vague initially.There's loads of space for expansions, I have one of the themed sets and it fits with loads of room for a few more!The failing I can see is potential Alpha gaming (one person dominating play) but because there's a score keeping aspect to determine the overall winner, if they beat the mastermind, players should cooperate and equally compete. I think it's a good idea to just make it co-op and go competitive after a few plays.Overall this is a very easy game to play but new players will need support just to get thier heads around the card synergies and effects.This one is a keeper.

I've never played a deck building game before, but purchasing this was one of the best decisions I've made when it comes to games. The artwork on all the cards is fantastic, the variety of heroes and villains is amazing and the game itself is spectacular. A lot of people seem to have an issue with the set up and pack away times but i think it's no problem, considering how complex the game is the set up should take time. It's a game which is fun to play on your own but is even better when enjoyed with friends.Most definitely recommend and I am looking forward to playing with the expansions

Great game with lots of room in the box for the expansions. What is a little confusing is that there isn't enought index spacers for the expansions. And they aren't included with the expansions.

Fantastically nerdy and worth every penny. Takes a while to set up and understand the first time round but once you've got the hang of it it's fantastic. We even dragged one of our really not nerdy friends in to play it (she's never seen Star Wars - that kind of person) and even she loved it. She also had fun re-organising it back in the box afterwards because she's a bit OCD when it comes to alphabetising things. Lots of expansions are available so you'll never get bored.

This is a great game and very addictive. It's pretty much infinitely re-playable especially if you get some of the readily available expansions. Very easy to learn and quite quick to play (although set up and packing away time is relatively quite long as you need to separate most of the cards you will use in the game). It plays brilliantly as a solo game if you want to, or for as many as five players.There is a huge community on Boardgamegeek.com to help with rules queries and to generate new challenges and variations.Highly recommended.

Setting it up is a major pain point for me - almost every single card has the same back which makes sorting them out (especially when you first get it) a pain to do.

I'll start with my only negative. The game takes a long time to set up and take down, as you have to shuffle many sets of cards together and then separate them all once you are done.This game is a lot of fun though, my friends are always asking me to bring this over on board game nights. Its simple to learn but still has enough depth to make your decisions feel meaningful and build powerful synergies in your deck. Tons of replay value with many combinations of heroes, villains, masterminds, and schemes. This value only gets better if you add some expansions to your collection.

Llevo años jugándolo, y definitivamente hace honor a su nombre, es un juego altamente temático, con opciones para gran variedad de jugadores, 1-5, lo que se agradece mucho, y la rejugabilidad que te brinda la simple caja básica... Wow.Sin duda el mejor deck builder que conozco, el más completo

Lo stiamo provando ed è davvero divertente. Basta poco per capire le regole e non vediamo l'ora di sperimentare tutti i personaggi.

Fantástico!!!Encontré este juego de casualidad buscando otro producto y no pude resistirme. Recomendadisimo para todos los que disfrutan de juegos de cartas de estrategia como magic tg, si además eres fanático de los cómics y/o los superheroes mejor aún, aunque está en inglés no requiere más que un nivel muy básico para poder entenderlo y jugarlo.Respecto a la entrega, es mi primer pedido con amazon, si bien la entrega fue más que correcta y el repartidor se tomó la molestia de llamar antes de pasar a entregarlo, tal y como solicité, la caja viene con un golpe considerable en una esquina, a efectos prácticos no tiene importancia, pero si lo hubiese querido como objeto de coleccionista o para hacer un regalo habría sido un problema, y siendo mi primer pedido creo que amazon debería haber cuidado al milímetro este tipo de detalles, que deberían cuidarse siempre, porque no es especialmente barato y me ha dejado un sabor agridulce. Pero como lo que se valora aquí es el producto le doy las 5 estrellas, si alguien duda por el idioma o por si será o no entretenido que no lo piense más.
