The John Rutter Collection

Nice For The Fan and Nice For The First Timer
I am a little of both. I have recently discovered the music of John Rutter and became an instant fan but still new to what he has to offer. I have one Christmas album that is great but want something more broader and this is it. This is a nice cross section of church and secular music and a few Christmas selections. The music is typical British/Anglican style which I like. I have often said there is nothing like a good British choir. There are lush full traditional sounding selections and interesting modern rousing sounding selections with mixed choirs and with boy sopranos. The orchestra is featured and will really catch your attention in quite a few selections like >O Be Joyful In The Lord< >Behold The Tabernacle<>O Praise The Lord<. I personally liked >Esurientes< >Gaelic Blessing< >Angel's Carol< >Sing A Song Of Sixpence<. There may be a selection or two that don't thrill you like me but keep going. I like to sing and I like to hear good singing and I get both with this album. If you want to know what John Rutter is all about you won't go wrong with this.

Exceptional Quality
I am absolutely thrilled with my purchase of The John Rutter Collection. I have performed in The I. Sherman Green Chorale; a Civic Choir, singing several of the selections. My favorite is number 2. The cost of this magnificent CD is minimal in regards to the sustained hours of listening that I have obtained. Every time I drive my car I listen to the CD many of the selections allow me to visualize a particular moment in my life. The songs were simply stunning, glorious and heavenly. The Choir sang with such beauty and musical sensitivity and the instruments were truly festive.

For Rutter Fans
This CD has lots of good choral pieces on it. They are beautifully sung and arranged. Many of the pieces were ones I had sung or had heard many, many times. My only problem with it was my own taste I think. Several of the pieces I don't care for at all. I don't expect to love all of them, but I would like to enjoy all of them. As I said it's just personal preference I'm sure. Look at the "playlist", and you'll get a good idea of whether you want to buy it or not. I did, and it was worth the money just not 5 stars for me.

Loved it so much, bought three
I was used to hearing selections from John Rutter and the Cambridge Singers on the radio for years. Then I found that my local library had it in its cd selection and I would take it out over and over. Finally, I decided I had to have it for myself so I bought three, one for me and two to share this treasure with others.I adore the music. My only complaint is that it's almost impossible to understand the words and I found myself humming more than singing until I took the time to find the words online and then print them out.Otherwise, it's just shear delightful music that I can hear over and over.

I love the reinterpretations of hymns I used to sing at school as a child. This version of Pie Iesus is absolutely wonderful. This is a great album to listen to on Sundays or whenever you are in a relaxing mood. This is a great buy!

One of many John Rutter's masterpieces.
John Rutter has become one of my favorite composers, arrangers and conductors. It is great to hear good music. I discover his work on a large number of You Tube videos. Great Britain still has marvelous talent in this field. I only wish that Amazon could handle some of Britain's Brass Band recording like Black Dyke. Also, a brilliant cornetist Peter Roberts, who has retired, produced great work.

Wife loved it.
To be quite honest, I bought this for my wife. She liked it. But she hasn't played it repeatedly, which is typical. Neither she or I are fans of choral music, but she liked this CD quite a bit anyway. I haven't listened to it yet.

Fine collection!
The recording does not seem as technically well done as many other recordings of Rutter, but it includes many of the most well-known pieces as well as some of the lesser known ones, making it a valuable addition to a choir director's library.

A wonderful recording
I enjoyed this DVD so much that I have sent it to my friends, knowing that it will give them as much pleasure as it has given me. Music to make lockdown bearable!

... Rutter collection for the price shown and also The best of John Rutter for £6
I bought both the John Rutter collection for the price shown and also The best of John Rutter for £6.99p. Imagine my disappointment when I found that every track on each CD was identical despite the different titles. The best of John Rutter is clearly the cheaper one of these two which are otherwise identical except that one has Decca on the front and one has the Decca mark on the back. I have been had !!
