Millers Diesel Power Ecomax, my experience.I have tested Millers Diesel Power Ecomax over a long period under measurable conditions in my modern TDI diesel car. Millers themselves are very circumspect in their claims for this product. With respect to performance and economy they use the term, “tangible improvement in vehicle performance and enhanced fuel economy.” There are also further claims made by Millers regarding the product which are not easy for the general public to measure unless you have access to sophisticated equipment or research facilities, “enhanced detergency package” and “improved combustion and engine cleanliness – drastically reduced emissions of hydrocarbons (HC), carbon dioxide and nitrous oxide.”All I can give you here is my experience of using Millers diesel powered Ecomax from the fuel economy point of view. First, I tested the product over a long perfectly measurable motorway distance (120 miles), where the same journey was performed again and again under similar conditions of continuous movement and maximum economy driving (definition given below). Town driving and motorway tests with slow traffic or hold-ups were not counted as they introduced far too much error. I noted the miles per gallon consumption using the car’s own display system. The same brand of premium diesel was used throughout.Results.Using Millers Ecomax at the recommended concentration (50ml per 50 L) or higher concentrations produced no improvement in economy. However, using the product at half the recommended concentration produced on average an approximate 5% improvement in fuel economy. This figure. I consider can only be achieved with careful economy minded driving as other forms of driving will lose benefits of such a small improvement. The engine was also slightly quieter and smoother at this half recommended concentration.I would estimate that no benefit of this product would occur if it’s added to already enhanced (nitro) diesels such as Shell V Power. The tests also showed that the real way to save fuel is to drive in a fuel efficient manner. Some test runs were done at continuous high-speed without any thought for the fuel economy. This produced a 27% increase in fuel consumption – a truly staggering figure which for many motorists will add up to an annual bill of well over £1000 or more. Fuel being lost purely due to inefficient driving. The result is that with Millers at half the recommended concentration and with economy maximum driving I achieved a 32% improvement in my fuel consumption (5% of this being due to Millers Ecomax).Economy motoring is fun! Ten basic rules or recommendations.1. Tyres must be kept at the recommended pressure (underinflated tyres have a massive braking effect on a car’s performance).2. Try to keep a constant minimum speed in relation to the efficiency of your combustion engine. For most engines this is around the 56 mph mark, so on a long trip, I would recommend the car does not fall below 60 mph.3. The car can be driven above 60 mph in the following circumstances, downhill and coming off a long downhill onto the flat. Accelerating gently downhill requires far less fuel (you have free gravitational energy) to gain speed than the fuel required to bring a car up to a higher speed on the flat, or the even greater amounts of fuel required (double the amount of fuel) to accelerate a car uphill. Accelerating uphill is lifting the weight of the car against gravity whilst trying to increase speed by pumping in excess fuel. A really inefficient mistake.4. Minimum brake use equals maximum fuel economy. Stop start uses most fuel. Always try to decelerate continuously forward from distance towards a blockage (e.g. traffic lights) rather than driving up under power and then braking to a stop. Stopping represents a 100 % loss of momentum energy. You’ll be surprised how often red lights approached slowly turn green as you get near. Not stopping equals a significant energy (fuel) saving.5. If there is a blockage or point of slower speed ahead, then think far ahead. Allow the car to naturally decelerate in its speed over a long distance – this will save significant energy and energy equals fuel. Also in thinking ahead, consider the best time to travel. It may be better to travel earlier or later in order to get a continuous run without interruption. I always delay coming out of London or Birmingham until I think the traffic is flowing quickly and smoothly – and this means fuel economy – perhaps a 30% fuel saving.6. Never accelerate uphill as this could double your fuel consumption for these periods.7. Always be very gentle with the accelerator pedal as you wish no unburnt fuel or useless energy spikes to be introduced into the running of the engine.8. Try to keep the car in fifth or sixth gear and not change down.9. If you are approaching a small hill at high speed, simply maintain your speed with the gentlest touching of the accelerator. If you are approaching a long continuous hill at high speed, then controlled deceleration will give you the greatest fuel saving. This involves very gently and slowly removing pressure from the accelerator, step-by-step. This utilises the cars forward high speed momentum being absorbed in moving up the hill and uses small amounts of fuel just giving an edge on the forward motion until the car gently decelerates down to its basic speed of 60 mph climbing the hill or reaches the top. This will offer significant fuel savings.10. Most combustion engine cars have greatest efficiency around the 60 mph mark. Don’t make the mistake of thinking because the car appears very aerodynamic and has a big powerful engine that high speeds can be achieved at little fuel cost. Believe it or not a Ferrari or Lamborghini sports car driven at maximum speed on a straight track will be using 1 to 2 miles per gallon. Always remember any fool can use huge amounts of fuel, but it takes a wise motorist to drive with minimum fuel usage – driving on fumes is fun.

You can't teach an old dog.................Well worth every penny
11th September 2014I own a Vauxhall Vectra, a 120hp diesel model which I purchased brand new in 2008. In the six years or so I have owned this vehicle I have covered almost 160,000 trouble free miles, apart from having to replace a single wheel bearing after around 100,000 miles.Recently I have had the occasional "stutter" when proceeding up steep hills and decided that I should consider adding something to the fuel to see whether this would cure this minor irritation. I don't have smoke coming out of my exhaust or anything like that; I believe that the 62 mile journey to work every morning keeps the particulate filter clear and similarly, with a return journey each evening my car gets long runs. With such high mileage, bearing in mid that diesels are designed to maximise the benefits of long runs what might go wrong? Well after a degree of research it does appear that over a period of time, even for engines such as mine which run at around 2,000 revs for periods of over an hour the injectors can still "narrow".I have just completed my first 200 miles, which from the manufacturers guide suggests that I should start to feel the effect. I have always achieved about 52 mpg during the winter, rising to around 55 mpg in the summer when I don't have the lights, wipers, HRW etc on for about 2 and a half hours. It will be interesting to see if my MPG improves; I doubt it, but I will keep this feed updated.Has it cured the "stutter"? Fingers crossed it does appear to be doing something as after two journeys, not a murmur so far. It might of course be the fuel as I filled up with branded, rather than supermarket when I added the additive. So why five stars after 200 miles and inconclusive proof? Firstly, the item is very highly thought of, not just via Amazon, but also the trade. Secondly it arrived promptly, it was well packaged and unlike some reviewers, I was able to insert the nozzle into my filler easily, particularly with the supplied extension tube, thirdly whilst it is early days and 2 runs to work, my car does appear to be pulling a little better and appears to run smoother. So will it continue with 5 stars? Let's see. I will fill up again after 4 journeys so that I can keep to the 50 litre mark for using the additive and feed back then. Certainly it is easy to administer and so far it seems to be giving life to a middle aged dog.19th September 2014Just filled up. No improvement in Mpg 53.2, but whilst the stutter has occurred on a couple of occasions, the engine does give the impression that it is running smoother, it does appear to have effected the pulling power, particularly in high gear/low revs and all in all appears to be breathing new life into journey.25th September 2014Just done my third re-fill MPG 53.9 . Absolutely no improvement in economy (remember long drives every day) but the engine does seem to be far more responsive. The stuttering does occur, but less frequently now and I think that with a few more applications it could stop altogether. I suppose the question is, "is it worth it"? For me, yes it is. I intend to get my trusty Vectra up to 200k miles around this time next year and if this prevents me having to pay for new fuels jets or similar, which will cost more than the re-sale value of my car, fantastic and well worth every penny.3rd November 2014Into my second bottle. The additive has removed the "stutter" that I previously had and the engine is running particularly well. Now some way towards 165,000 trouble free miles and i have to say that the engine feels as good as it did at 65,000 miles. No change in MPG really, but to be honest, I wouldn't expect better without reducing my speed.3rd February 2015Just ordered my fourth bottle. It really does feel as though this item has rejuvenated my old Vauxhall. Just up to 170,000 miles on the engine. MOT today and guess what? Emissions test passed with ease and some to spare. I do travel 120 miles a day during work days, but even so, my emission levels this MOT were lower than last year. Either the fuel is getting better or perhaps this additive is helping my engine to burn cleaner. No idea, but same journey up to Basingstoke, similar speeds over the 62 miles, same garage.... Not sure how long the car stood between arriving at 8:00 and collecting at 11:00 but the test says I am burning cleaner.24th November 2015After 181,000 mile my Vectra was replaced by a new B Max 1.5 75ps diesel. I haven't added any Miller's yet, but over the coming weeks I will assess how well it helps this relatively low powered diesel to perform. Mid range power is fine, as expected, but from a standstill it is a bit sluggish and whilst I expected that, a recent comment on my review made me think that I should assess the value on a smaller newer car in regards to performance.

Amazing!!!
This stuff is awesome working unbelievable! I added 3 times over the limit by mistake, but cleaned my injectors in 15 minutes drive! I have 1.6 tdi, but my car is driving now like 2.0 tdi! So much power can't believe it! Also my engine stopped shaking, running very nice and become more economical. Buying more and will keep using this stuff all the time for my car and wife's car.

Works for me
Have used this for years! Started when needed to go out in an old TDi discovery late at night/very early morning, bought initially to quiet the engine a bit quieter (keep neighbours happy) and yes it worked. Have used it on diesel Jeeps and now a Toyota D4D. Not sure if there is an improvement in mpg but is quieter, smoother and has more torque, more eager to rev from low down -that's my experience and I keep buying the stuff :-) one thing though, I personally do not feel a difference when added to 'premium' diesel so just buy the regular stuff and 'tweak' with EcoMax. Works well for me!
