Brilliant for left handed fountain pen users!
I read quite a few reviews before buying this ink and am glad I did based on what I read about others.I love fountain pens and spent much of my adult life avoiding them because I had it drummed into me at school (Primary in the UK) that as a left hander, my writing was terrible and always smudged. It took me way too long to realise it was the fault of the ink and choice of pen back then, not the writer. So, armed with my new Lamy Safari, I loaded up the Lamy converter (alternative to ink cartridges) Platinum ink and tried writing. Wow! For the first time in my life, I can write with a fountain pen, dragging my hand over the page as I go, and not see a single smudge. Believe me, I have tried. The ink dries so quickly, that it doesn't smudge at all. It's a revelation to me as a huge fan of the idea of writing with a fountain pen and never having been able to do so successfully my whole life.I'm extremely happy with the Platinum ink and the little gadget in the bottle to make it easier to use a plunger style converter makes all the difference. The ink dries almost instantly and is a deep black colour on the page. It's beautiful to write with.

Very black, very permanent ink.
I absolutely love this blackest of inks. Its positively stygian, is waterproof when dry and doesn't dry with a high sheen. I use it to refill my brush pens and with a dip or fude nib pen, either on its own or as a basis for line and wash. (Do check out its drying time on your paper first before taking it out sketching as it can take much longer than is convenient to dry on some of the harder sized varieties.)Do beware of leaving this ink for a moment longer than necessary in a fountain pen without flushing it out as the carbon particles that impart its deep blackness can irreversibly clog up your pen and I would caution against using it in an expensive or precious pen for the same reason. It is also wise to protect self and surfaces well and keep kitchen roll handy when filling with it as this ink permanently stains everything you spill it on.Caveats and cost notwithstanding this ink is still very much worth getting. I've a ridiculously large collection of black inks of every type and permanence and this is definitely my favourite for darkness and permanence.

Exceptional Quality and Deep, Rich Black Ink!
I recently purchased the Platinum Carbon Ink Bottle (60ml) in Black, and it has exceeded all my expectations. The ink quality is outstanding, providing a deep, rich black color that enhances the look of my writing and artwork. It flows smoothly from my fountain pen, with no skipping or blotting, and dries quickly to prevent smudging. The bottle design is also practical, making it easy to refill my pens without any mess. This ink is perfect for both writing and drawing, offering excellent performance and durability. Highly recommended for anyone looking for high-quality ink!

this is an excellent black ink
In my opinion, this is an excellent black ink.Pros:* Reasonably quick drying (not fast, but faster than some of my other inks).* Smooth writing.* Extremely black ink! It is made with carbon microparticles which makes it very black.* Waterproof and fadeproof (an earlier test of this ink has been sitting the sun for close to a year and hasn't visibly faded)Cons:* When the bottle is full, the internal reservoir doesn't work very well.* This is a rather expensive ink.* As a pigment ink, you can smudge it even when it is dry. It doesn't smudge easily but it is possible.* If it dries out or comes into contact with other inks it turns into a sludge that can clog up your pens. Regular cleaning and a pen that doesn't dry too quickly is essential.

Excellent Permanent Ink.
I will compare this to the other permanent ink I have (rohrer & klingner Scabiosa).Right off the bat the colour is spot on, a REALLY deep black that's even blacker than my previous Diamine Onyx Black. It's important to note that when filling a pen with this, it can mix with other residual ink in the pen and form a sludge/gel that blocks it - I cleaned mine in an ultrasonic cleaner first to ensure it was going into a fully clean pen.The ink itself flows really well and far better than many other permanent inks which can cause the pen to skip (especially if you forget to re-cap the pen when you're busy). This Carbon Ink flows beautifully well but doesn't blot (I'm using it on a Lamy Safari with a fine nib). This makes it a very smooth ink to write with. The most important thing for me was that I use this at work and it MUST be waterproof/indelible. I took some pictures to illustrate. One is with a drop of water and a drop of 96% ethanol dropped onto it to see if it diffuses at all. The second picture is after I have deliberately run my finger across to try to smudge it. As you can see it doesn't smudge at all with the alcohol (which easily soaks into the paper) and does so only very slightly with water.I've also included the same test with my existing Scabiosa (dark purple) ink and you can see that even though that is also permanent, it diffuse more when wet and also smudges more than this Carbon Ink does (I'd score the Scabiosa 3/5 but this Carbon Ink 4.5/5 here - it's simply much better in this regard).I have re-uploaded the images because Amazon displays them in a random order rather then the order I upload them so annotations make them easier to understand.Drying time appears to be quicker than Scabiosa too so that's another bonus there. It's a bit expensive but you get what you pay for and having permanent ink that really is permanent for work is invaluable to me so I don't mind the outlay.
