I have always used our digital bathroom scales which seem to be pretty accurate but they are no use on the flight back. I initially bought another make of luggage scales which seemed to be a bargain but when I tried to use them they were useless. I tried weighing my suitcase which was about 20kg but the reading on the scales would not settle to a reading that would lock on no matter how long I held the case. I sent them back and got the Salter Luggage Scale from Amazon and they are ideal, the reading settles down quickly and they are comfortable to hold. They may look heavy but they are made from a lightweight plastic so you can take them with you for the flight back.
