NWA heaven. Forget DX & NWO...
Very good dvd. Tells the great story of the Four Horsemen, the true dominant stable in professional wrestling, before Vince completely ruined kayfabe with characters like Papa Shango & The Undertaker, bringing us 'sports entertainment' instead. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars was due to the omission of Ole Anderson from the interviews & cover (replaced with Windham). Also there are only a few full matches included here. Too many interviews take the place and why cover the 90's in WCW with all the phoney members & without Tully. Four 4 life.

Good, but could, no SHOULD, have been better
Wrestling never really paid much attention to it's history, or at least Vince McMahon didn't, until it realised the money to be made in it.Thus, the WWE release a DVD set dedicated to an act that, as a complete faction, never wrestled in the WWE.And given that the Four Horsemen are THE greatest faction to have ever been assembled in the wrestling world, this should have been a five star DVD all the way. Sadly, it falls short. The main problem is Arn Anderson. It's the 21st Century and we all know that wrestling is a "work." His comments on the DVD, which sound as if he's telling the "story" as reality, jar on what otherwise is a perfectly sound run through the Horsemen story. My only other complaint on that score would be the fact that the story pays scant attention to the in-ring action, content to give us insights into the Horsemen's real life prediliction for living the high life. The other problem are the bonus matches; surely out of all the classic Horsemen moments, they could have put some better matches on than the collection that is there. Yes, the War Games is a classic, but Blanchard/Rhodes is awful and few of the rest is must-see.Still there are definate highlights (watching Tully Blanchard is always a pleasure, Ric Flair has some great stories and Paul Roma's stint in the Horsemen generates some of the funniest moments on the DVD) to pursue, yet there is a sense of disappointment that this could have been so much better.

i loved it
The four horsemen came together in 1986 almost by accident and disbanded in 1999 roughly albeit after several member changes so much so that the group was very much a shadow of its former self but the core members of arn anderson and ric flair remained throughout the good times and the bad.The main members consisted of arn, ric, tully blancard and ole anderson and they were the first wrestling stable about,if it wasnt for them there would have been no NWO,no DX,no nation of domination,no brood,no ministry of darkness and no,eerr,i am all ashamed to say,no blue world order,oh i feel ill, anyway, you get the idea, the four horsemen were a group that wrestled together and partied together, they were close away from the cameras and it showed, they had it all and at one point all four members had a belt to their name at the same time, this caused jealousy of course. The group were the ultimate villains, attacking dusty rhodes, magnum t.a and many more and causing savage beatings, they were arrogant and did some great interviews that got the crowd frothing at the mouth to have their heads in a basket.Of course things changed and members left and were replaced with inferior replacements, lex luger was terrible, barry windham was a horseman in my eyes, dean malenko was good as was benoit, sid vicious was garbage and the interview with flair on him is very real indeed, paul roma doesnt deserve to be mentioned but as he says himself he was a horseman so there and then mr perfect was given arns spot as a horseman when he retired, which is high praise. The dvd comes with a generous documentary which is packed with interviews, some spoken in kayfabe and some are very good shoots(breaking character),we get grat insight and some very real honesty indeed. The second disc comes with some great matches and some not so and of course many will cry for matches that should have been there and arent but thats the way it goes,i found this a terrific documentation on a very cool group who dominated sports entertainment for years and paved the way for many a group to follow, great stuff.

A TEAM THAT WERE THE BEST IN WRESTLING
They don't get any better than Ric Flair in the history of Pro Wrestling , this DVD documents the Four Horsemen glory days which were mostly the Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard and Ole Anderson along with Ric days .This group which also had Baby Doll then J.J.Dillon as valet to Tully then J.J as manager to Tully then he became the Horseman manager, they were the foundation of the NWA which was the then king of pro-wrestling in the USA .iTwas the first time the world champion really aligned himself with an elite cadre of like wrestlers who possessed all the other important titles .Ric Flair was the best on the microphone period , he made other wrestlers look like world beaters but always won somehow , the man you loved to hate .If Vince McMahon was behind this group it would have been unstoppable . The minds of the Crocketts and Gagnes , Von Erichs etc. simply were not prepared for a Vince jr and competitive business techniques , it isn't rocket science , from the owner on down its about making money , I don't think they were surprised just sorry they didn't think of it first . Anyway Ric was successful wherever he went and still is , but points to this era as his favorite time .One can see why , they really seem to be enjoying themselves and why not ??They were the best !
