Does what it says
I bought this to replace a 10 year old HP printer which gave up after years of good service. I read the reviews on this printer and was almost put off from buying it from some of the reviews. But, being a bit loyal to HP I took a chance. I'm glad I did as the printer works just fine. Easy to set up, and easy to operate. Print quality is just fine both in colour and in mono. Okay, I'm not a heavy user but for what I need it's just fine. Scan, copy, and print works reasonably quickly without a hitch. I had my wife send a test email to the printer (printer has it's own email address supplied when you set it up) directly without the PC being switched on and that worked fine, although I have to say the download seemed a tad slow, but hey, who cares if you're buying it for home use only. The only test to carry out now is reliability over time and ink usage. Not bad for the price. You could do worse.

Initial load up of software on your computer takes a little bit longer but worth it
I have had HP printers for a very long time and rarely have I been disappointed by them except for the last one which despite all efforts would not work. This replacement printer so far has been very successful. I as a hobby restore old photographs and the scanner on this printer is excellent quick and versatile. I also do a lot of writing both stories and poetry and again this printer has crisp fresh and quick system on it and is enjoyable to watch. the cartridges too are easy to replace and very little fuss is need to do so unlike certain other printers that shall remain nameless brother! overall I am very satisfied with this purchase and recommend the system to everyone especially teachers and writers and other people who restore old photos and documents. you could buy a more expensive printer but not get the quality of results that you do here.

Great Printer, average software
Print quality is excellent, speed good, paper handling good (ADF works fine), and scanning good, if a little slow in colour. The menus on screen are clear and easy to use, but give limited options for print or scan quality, for example. The software works, and does give options to adjust everything necessary, but I have found it quite tricky to set up and navigate. However, after an hour or so setting up and exploring it is now doing all I need using several devices running Windows 10 and Android. To be fair, some of my problems were to do with my network set up, as I had two wireless networks with the same SSID (one direct from the main router, one from a powerline adapter upstairs near the printer) and the printer was hopping between the two and dropping print and scan jobs, and also seemed a bit confused by my Sonos system. The network status report from the printer did identify this issue, and since I have renamed one network everything has worked smoothly, including signing up for the instant ink trial - which I am confident will make this printer cheap to run with original ink compared to other major brands. It is worth knowing that if you use non-original inks on hp printers you get a reminder to consider using branded ones every time you print, and need to click to dismiss - which can get annoying very quickly....Overall, I am now very pleased with my purchase, and feel it represents excellent value compared to the obvious alternatives (eg the Epson Workforce one that seems to cost about twice as much at the moment) - but if you have any non-standard features on your home network be prepared for a bit of head scratching during and after installation. If you need very simple installation and user-friendly software above all else, then in my experience Canon is probably the big brand to go for - but I don't have that much experience, so please don't give my opinion too much weight!

Good printer
Needed a successor to my old ColourSmart 7280 after an unexpected total loss of, well, pretty much everything. The Office Jet 6950 looked like a good bet. Firstly, it's very much lighter - the old machine weighed a ton in comparison. It has only three instead of six colour cartridges and, once I'd read the leaflet, the Instant Ink looked like a good idea. The setup online is not complicated; it just seemed to go on for ever, though! The old machine just got on with it and was ready to run once the drivers had installed.Once up and running, the HP Smart app is straightforward enough. This is a home/SME printer rather than one with photo printing capability, so the print quality is not quite as pin-sharp as the old machine (when it was working!), but the scan capability was a must. Overall, a good price as well.

Disappointed in HP, won't buy their brand of printers again
I bought this printer shortly after moving in to my new home, after my Officejet 6700 got broken due to poor packaging by me (how I miss that printer!).This printer does not come with a CD for installation, which means you have to rely on HP for the installation. The Officejet 6950 worked fairly well (although slower than the 6700) until a couple of weeks ago when I tried printing from my computer and it failed to print.I was puzzled and tried everything but it still did not work, scan to computer feature was also not working. Lo and behold I decided to deinstall and reinstall the software and reset the printer only to find that HP Easy Start has now morphed into HP Smart where you need an account and to use cloud services to scan and print your documents. I am thorougghly disgusted that HP has done this, and feel cheated. I bought the printer so why can I not use it to its full ability unless I set up an account and use the cloud?I take my privacy very seriously and feel very insecure about documents being on a cloud service because we know that any system can be hacked. The fact there is no opt out of this feature is disabolical and appears to show contempt for the customer base. It is not fair that after shelling out a decent amount of money, the goalposts have been moved. To add insult to injury the HP Smart software is slow and since installing it I am still having isues with the lcd screen on the printer freezing and scans not going to my computer, sigh. : (
