It's a great product, solid, but due to the terrible weather in Wales, it needs a slight redesign to prevent rainwater from getting into the seeds through the feeder holes.

My second, the first got broken by the dog knocking the feed station over. I've had the first one for around 4 years, so lasts really well. The sparrows and blue tits love it, the other birds go on the feed mesh bowls, apart from the blackbirds, they rummage underneath to hoover up any seed, and the secreted mealworms. Love it!

its all metal construction together with the plastic sleeve that holds the birdseed has certainly resisted the squirrels who chewed the plastic one I had previously ...to destruction !! . They still climb along the clothesline and hang off it to reach the openings but since I have attached two old CDs through the clothes line held on position by pegs which spin freely a few feet away , together with another held on a knot above the bird feeder, the fact that these move makes the squirrels grip or sense of it uneasy and they have left it alone at least for the last 3 weeks. the bird feeder is great news as I now have goldfinches for the first time , robins and blue tits too with pigeons feasting on all the bits dropped to the floor below get one you won't be disappointed

I can only do nothing but not give this product a resounding thumbs down, as it is jolly good. Having recently taken up the art of bird spotting, via the telescopic sight on my air rifle, I figured it was about time to attract new scavengers to my back fence. With that in mind, and based upon the recommendations of this product (proving that reviews do work even when written by commoners) I purchased this, and it was delivered very promptly by a chap who looked amazingly like David Newell. I mean it really could have been him but I didn't get my trousers up quick enough to get to the door and ask him. It was also discreetly packaged, which is a bonus if you want to keep your hobbies under the radar of nosey neighbours – especially the likes of her at number 26. Anyway, as a member of the SAS (The Staunton Association of Scientists) I am duty bound to test any product, lest it do harm to the fragile harmony of the village. Therefore upon receipt I hastened to The Hidden Fortress (Matt's back garden), where he and me set about putting this bad boy through its paces. It is highly durable and well made, although we did not run over it with Matt's ride on mower so we haven't tested it to destruction. It is also a generous capacity - it can hold at least two tins of Hunger Breaks All Day Breakfast 395g (obviously you have to decant the contents yourself), and the serving holes are ample enough in size to coax the sausages out of, and the mushrooms. We did find the pork and egg nuggets were somewhat awkward to get out, so it would not be suitable if you had a PENEDS (Pork and Egg Nugget Emergency Dispensing Situation) but neither Matt or me can imagine that eventuality, even if Nicola Sturgeon was appealing, so we don’t envisage a problem. However the down side is twofold. Primarily the beans simply drip out of the holes which makes a right old mess on the patio. Secondly you do have to be very careful when siting this item on your land, as it may well attract tramps and other vermin. Thus far it has not attracted many birds but it is only day one, so – much like Springwatch – I will update this excellent review when I have anything worth sharing. UPDATE Tramps do not respond kindly to air rifles. UPDATE We had a magpie land on the lid but it flew off again. UPDATE Michaela Strachan just got hold of a pork and egg nugget but the kettle had just boiled so I didn’t catch it on camera. In summation I reckon this product is excellent in every respect, and would even work in student accommodation as a feeder for those whiney university timewasters, but then they'd probably nick it to be funny and original. They also look quite smart, so you could hang them around places like train stations to feed those people that Phil Collins made a fortune singing about feeling sorry for.

Adesso che iniziano ad arrivare gli uccellini ho notato che funziona veramente bene.Ha diverse porticine quindi si possono utilizzare diversi mangimi.Si caricano tutti dalla parte superiore tirando la calotta metallica.E fatto di alluminio leggero e di plastica trasparente.Lo si puo fissare a qualsiasi cosa.

Ausgepackt, befüllt und aufgehängt. Mehr ist nicht nötig. Der Futtersilo wird von verschiedensten Vogelarten sehr gut angenommen. Zeisig, Kohlmeise, Blaumeise, sogar Rotkehlchen, Grünlinge, Buchfinken, Stieglitze aber auch Sperlinge waren innerhalb kürzester Zeit am Futtersilo. Obwohl Rotkehlchen nicht so gerne an Futtersilos gehen, konnte ich vom Fenster aus beobachten, wie es sich Sonnenblumenkerne herausholte. Die Landestangen sind ok. Ich habe einer Vorrezension folgend einen Versuch gemacht und in Holzdübel 5 mm-Bohrungen gemacht und diese aufgesteckt. Aber ich musste feststellen, dass die Vögel häufiger an die Sitzstangen gingen, die nicht mit Holz bestückt waren. Da bei mir im Winter Vögel auch auf Metalldrähten sitzen und auf Geländern herumspazieren gehe ich davon aus, dass die Kälte für die Vögel kein Kriterium für die Wahl der Sitzstange ist. Da ich gleichzeitig einen anderen Futtersilo aufgehängt habe, der grüne Kunststoffsitzstangen verwendet muss ich feststellen, dass auch die Ausführung der Sitzstange nicht entscheidend ist.Die Gardmann Futtersäule war innerhalb von 2 Tagen leergefressen. Die in der Nähe aufgehängte mit den Kunststoffsitzstangen war nur zu 10% leergefressen. Dann habe ich die Gardmann wieder nachgefüllt und die Aufhängeorte vertauscht. Dieses mal wurde die mit den Kunststoffsitzstangen bevorzugt von den unterschiedlichsten Vögeln frequentiert. Nicht die Ausführung ist also entscheidend sondern der Platz an dem der Silo aufgehängt wird. Hier muss man ggf. durch umhängen herausfinden an welchen Plätzen die Vögel gerner einkehren und an welchen sie nicht so recht wollen. Bei mir war das Kriterium, dass die gut frequentierte am untersten Ast eines Apfelbaumes hing und von allen Seiten frei angeflogen werden konnte. Drumherum - aber höher - waren Äste zum landen. Die weniger gut frequentierte war etwas höher gehängt und war deshalb nicht ganz frei anzufliegen und hatte nicht so viele kleine Äste zum Zwischenlanden in der Nähe. Interessant ist auch, dass manche Vögel z.B. fast in der Baumkrone landen und sich dann Ast für Ast nach unten hangeln. Dann noch eine letzte Landung auf einem nahen Zweig und dann gehts zum Futtersilo. Grünlinge und Stieglitze waren Dauerfütterer. D.h. die bleiben auch längere Zeit auf der Sitzstange sitzen und naschen Kern für Kern. Blau- und Kohlmeisen dagegen holen sich einen Kern, fliegen auf einen Ast und picken dann drauf herum. Auch das Rotkehlchen holt sich nur Kerne und fliegt dann weiter um den Kern irgendwo zu vertilgen. Die Metall-Futterscheibe unter dem Silo passt exakt - ist aber m.E. nicht nötig. Füttert man geschälte Sonnenblumen oder gehackte Nüsse, gibt es kaum Abfall. Und das wenige war runterfällt ist für Amseln, Rotkehlchen, Buchfingen und Zaunkönig ein gefundenes Fressen. Außerdem habe ich festgestellt, dass die Scheibe sehr knapp unten dran sitzt, so dass die unteren Sitzstangen nicht mehr nennenswert höher sind. Dies hat dazu geführt dass die unteren Entnahmestellen mit Scheibe bei mir schlechter frequentiert waren als die oberen. Scheibe abgeschraubt und alle Entnahmestellen waren wieder gleichmäßig gefragt. M.E. ist nur bei Balkonfütterung die Scheibe sinnvoll, damit man verhindert, dass evtl. der Balkonboden verunreinigt wird. Füttert man ungeschälte Sonnenblumen muss die Metallscheibe m.E. laufend gereinigt werden. Aber das für mich entscheidende Kriterium dass ich die Scheibe ganz entfernt habe war, dass die Vögel ohne Scheibe an die unteren Entnahmestellen gerner anfliegen als mit Scheibe. Und bitte nicht vergessen, was auf den Boden fällt ist normalerweise kein Abfall sondern Futter für Rotkehlchen, Amseln und Buchfinken - aber auch Meisen prüfen immer wieder ob noch was fressbares dabei ist. Ich war etwas skeptisch - nachdem ich seit Jahren ein Holzfutterhaus mit integriertem Futtersilo nutzte, bei dem die Vögel keine Möglichkeit haben, das Futter mit Kot zu vermischen. Mein Befürchtungen waren jedoch unnötig - im Gegenteil. Währen mir Stieglitze früher nie am Futterhaus waren, kommen auch sie jetzt an die Futtersäulen. Und ich bin doch sehr erstaunt, wie schnell sich bei den Vögeln herumgesprochen hat, dass ich wegen der Kälte im April nochmals die Fütterung angestoßen habe. Innerhalb von 1 - 2 Tagen kann man von einer regelrechten Explosion reden. Also: gutes Futter, guten Silo, gute Lage = viele unterschiedliche Vögel die sich ein stelldichein geben. Und wenn jemand den Eindruck hat, die Futtersäule würde nicht angenommen - bitte prüfen ob das Vogelfutter ok ist, dann den Aufhängeplatz ggf. verändern und dann werden mit Sicherheit viele kleine Gäste kommen. Das mit der Verkleildung der Sitzstangen werde ich noch weiter testen und mal mit alternativen Materialien versuchen, glaube aber inzwischen wie oben erwähnt, dass die Sitzstange an der Gardmann Futtersäule so wie sie ist für die Vögel kein Problem darstellt. Für mich steht fest, dass ich nächsten Winter weitere dieser Säulen dazukaufen werde.

Es un comedero robusto y bien acabado el plástico es bastante grueso así que es difícil que se rompa. Ya lo hemos colgado, ha llovido fuerte y no se ha mojado el grano que habíamos puesto dentro. Cuando lo rellenes recomiendo tapar los agujeros con la mano ya que sinó es inevitable que caiga producto No le pongo 4 porque considero que el precio podría ser un poco más ajustado o si fuera a este precio pero con la bandeja accesoria que va debajo para recoger el grano que cae cuando los pájaros comen.

We had a feeder in plastic, but squirrels chew on it and pretty much destroyed it. This feeder allows squirrels to eat, but they can only eat from the holes provided. Very easy to refill, sturdy and seems very popular with birds of all kind.
