Yes, there are no animal products used in the manufacture, unlike some soaps that use tallow.

As the ingredients include hydrogenated caster oil, is the after shave greasy ?

Its not greasy but i do not like its smell. Denim original smell is better than this after shave. So i am not using it. Its not my type. It is minty give your skin a cooling effect and its not greasy...its your choice but its not that bad.

can this be used to compliment to proraso balm? or is it better to use one or the other?

I use an after shave then when that has dried in I apply an after shave balm.
