Hardcore Self Help: F--k Anxiety

Concise, to the point, practical tools to help you get over your anxiety
Yeah, it's not full of detail or anything. But Robert is concise, engaging and gives you the tools you need to put anxiety in its place. In the hour it takes you to read this book you genuinely learn so much practical advice with a lot more snark and a lot less filler than most self-help books. It's a self-help book for people who hate self-help books. I wouldn't recommend it for a specific type of anxiety (phobic, PTSD, etc) but for anything *involving* anxiety, it's so helpful. If you're struggling with anxiety, major or minor, get this book!!!

Fun read
First class book to jump start your understanding of anxiety and other issues. I particularly like the fact he blows away the stuffiness around the subject and offers some great coping tools. Funny and an easy read about a difficult subject.

Brilliant! Arrived the next day and read it all in one evening. I was beyond desperate and believe me when i say I've read and tried anything to feel a bit better including medication which dr stopped. It is a small book but for me personally I thought it was a great help. It's short, sweet and straight to the point and easy to read! Nothing fancy. Really helped me understand myself better and new exercises to try. The swearing isn't even that bad, I expected worse. Robert Duff does hit the nail on the head and explains things better than some other books and online articles. Personally It's a 10/10 for me and I'll happily read this over and over again. Thank u Robert Duff for being honest and helpful. Can honestly say for the first time in over 20 years of anxiety I feel relieved that someone understands it and doesn't mince their words, I'm excited about my next chapter and challenge to kick anxiety in the bum!

It's written at an amazing, amusing pace with enough bad language to make ...
Before today I'd only read parts after downloading the e-book in a fit of dentist anxiety. In the midst of an entirely new fit, I decided to get myself ready by reading the book in full and I have no regrets. I started this morning, when out into town, and just finished up on the sofa in the space of an hour. It's written at an amazing, amusing pace with enough bad language to make me feel at home. It's up front, practical, and fun and offers information, resources and plenty of encouragement. The last chapter really pumped me up and I identify with the author's unashamed nerdiness.I just have the guided meditation left which I will tackle tomorrow. Please try this book (if the language doesn't offend you), I think it really does have some helpful advice.

Short, down-to-earth, basic understanding your anxiety
I listened to this an an audiobookand in the car with my partner, it's a very short book so don't expect to be sat up with it for weeks, you can probably get it done in one sitting. I loved the tone and down-to-earth honesty, and definitely got us both nodding and chuckling all the way through. I'd say it's not hugely life-changing, it's definitely affirming to hear definitions of particular anxiety types and thought processes but if you are well versed with anxiety and have done your research it's possibly a little simplistic. Having said that, I would still reccomend it especially for people who don't know much about anxiety and want to support someone who is suffering

Pick-me-up
Before choosing up this book, I read samples of several other self-help books for anxiety but did not feel satisfied enough with their content to purchase them. This was in part due to being skeptical about self-help books. However, this book (particularly its title) resonated with me. The humorous but friendly approach, and the knowledge that the author is qualified to provide advice on the topic, is highly reassuring. Although I will be making use of the provided techniques, the best part about this book is enjoying the read despite it being about anxiety. That’s the real take-home message for me, staying positive in the face of anxiety, even if it makes you feel rubbish.

Not really hardcore
If you've never had counselling or read a self help book this is probably a reasonable starting point, but I think it's unlikely to help people with deep rooted issues, as it's fairly top line. There's some good ideas and quick fixes, however it's not a replacement for talking to a professional or doing something like yoga to really help with breathing techniques. I did expect the tone of voice to be 'in your face' and no-nonsense, but Robert is clearly a thoroughly decent, well educated bloke, who's thrown in a few swear words to engage a new/wider audience. This would've worked if the book was written like your mate was giving you advice, but from a mental health professional it was a little contrived. There may also be something lost in a Brit reading a US author's words, as the vocabulary of most Brits is far more colourful than Robert's.

Fabulous
A brilliant book both for those suffering anxiety and those who have someone suffering.Well written with a distinct lack of phsyco babble. Funny and so down to earth.Real insights, descriptions, knowledge, advise and understanding. Practical and a good read too. I particularly loved the letter produced to give to those who just don't know what anxiety is for you. Gave this to a teenager who loved the way it was written and very much enjoyed the odd "naughty" word.Great work Robert Duff.

it’s great!
I felt this book to be more like a friend. It was a great read. Not the information powerhouse like a encyclopaedia of anxiety, it’s more like a good talk with someone close to you who has a deep understanding of what anxiety is.

Solid 11/10
If you suffer from anxiety or panic attacks, don't even hesitate, just purchase this book. I wish I had it ages ago but I'm glad I've gotten my hands on it now. I've been suffering from absolutely debilitating anxiety and panic attacks as of recently, and this book has done a great deal in helping me. It's far from your normal, bland self help book. It kept me engaged. And it really moved me and made me feel less isolated. It was extremely comforting. And not to mention it's nice to be able to get some laughs in as well. Incredibly written and helpful to anyone out there suffering. Made me feel quite hopeful and relaxed. I'll definitely be recommending this to any friends experiencing similar issues.

No nonsense guide to anxiety
I really needed to read this after multiple hard to digest anxiety self help books. Like a breath of fresh air. It feels like getting advice from someone who could easily be your best mate. Robert does some fantastic podcasts on his website that are worth listening to also. Unfortunately breathing exercises have never helped with my anxiety to date. I've found it more helpful recently to stop focusing on my breathing so I can let my body breathe the way it's supposed to mainly because I was becoming too fixated on it. You know, how's my breathing? Too fast? Too slow? Am I feeling anxious? Constantly 'checking in' and then getting more worried. I'm pretty sure I forgot how to just breathe. I find that tensing various muscle groups systematically helps more than deep breathing at least for me anyway.
