Brilliant
Versatile and clever mount. Fast to mount and reposition. It moves in so many different axis you can almost always get a position you want.Mount camera, clamp, position, then just tighten the main wing nut and the whole thing is locked.Supports small action cameras well.I use this extensively with my Insta360. It’s is easily possible to position the wing nut inline with the camera body so it becomes invisible. Also use with my Sony action cams.Great for mounting on boats as the clamp mounts well to many different fittings giving almost infinite different possibilities for camera angles.

*UPDATE* Working replacement for faulty item.
*** UPDATE SUMMARY - The seller replaced my item as faulty, and the new one works much better **I will leave my original review in-tact below for future reference, but I want to update my feedback to reflect the fact that the seller contacted me and went to some very thorough steps to check if my unit was faulty, and took a photo-by-by guide of a working product at their end, complete with scales and weights for comparison. It looks as though my item was faulty and not locking into place at the 'head' end properly. When this was placed it was better able to take the load rated. I would say that the rated load appears to be measured where the two head ends are in a vertical line and the load is transferred straight down, but to their credit it does hold this load in this position. With locking threads that work I was comfortably able to lock my led lamp (which isn't the max load) into a realistic position that used the elbow as intended. While it would have been nice to have a received a working product from the outset the fact that seller proactively went through a lot of efforts to get to the bottom of the problem and replace the item is something I respect, so if you're having similar issues, check the last photo I've uploaded and see if this tightens properly.*** ORIGINAL REVIEW BELOW - Replaced by working version above ***I bought this on an Amazon Lightning Deal and I still feel like I've overpaid and been a little ripped off as the product does not seem to work well at all. I'm not really sure how this product has such glowing reviews unless I'm doing something wrong but I'm struggling to be able to recommend this at all. The articulated arms are metal, with standard 1/4" threaded sections at each end, and a plastic centre handle that locks everything together. You loosen the central handle, get the arm into position and then VERY tightly turn the central knob until it's secure (tight enough that it feels like it might break). Once this is done, the device simply collapses by rolling on the round ball-joints at each end which simply do not appear to lock tightly no matter what you do, whether from the central knob or the threaded mount. You simply have to rely on being able to judge the small window using the center-of-gravity of whatever you've mounted whereby the arm might actually stay upright (assuming you don't dare try and adjust a setting on the camera or lamp, brush up against it, or even look at it the wrong way!). It's simply infuriating. The magic clamp is great, allows a very strudy graps, but the ball joints at each end are seriously disappointing or I'm doing something very wrong (and I'll gladly update my review if it turns out I'm doing something wrong or if my unit is faulty or something). Check the video, says it all for me.This arm says that is rated for a "Max. Load: up to 2kg" and the light I've been trying to secure is 580g, so it should be 1/4 of the maximum rated weight and I would have expected a better result.

Great, strong and flexable!
Great little gadget to help you while filming. All metal construction (apart from tightening handle) so very strong. Comes with photography shoe adapter and clamp so there are numerous ways to attach this to something. All ground is covered in the box!!To use it you must first unlock the center bolt by turning the handle. Then ALL joints become loose. Then position it how you like and hold in place with one hand and tighten with the other. All joints will then become locked in place and hold their position. From base to tip it measures 11" and it can hold up to 2kg. It is a tad heavy at 248g (haven't confirmed this weight though) but to be honest once it is added to the camera rig I hardly notice a difference. It doesn't have to hold a monitor. You can attach any number of items to this. As long as it has a 3/8" thread you'll be fine or you can get a 1/4" adapter if you need one.Recommended? YES Sir!!To check out my YT video go to Youtube and in their search box copy and paste the following:kqETKvBYFsw

Nice little kit
I bought this to mount my shotgun above my monitor. As my monitor is attached to a desk-mounted stand I wanted to clamp an arm like this to the monitor mounting pole (approx 30mm in diameter) but didn't want to splash out on a big name brand like Smallrig because the price difference is a substantial jump but the mic is reasonably light. The clamp is really stright-forward, as you'd expect. There are two mounting holes for the arm, one on either side of the hinge. The arm itself works pretty well. I didn't realise at first that the knob tightens all aspects of the arm - the two swivel "balls" along with the "elbow" of the arm; I thought it only tightened the "elbow".All in all it worked pretty well. The arm holds the mic just fine and there doesn't seem to be any play, even if I push hard on the joints. I'd probably go with an alternative to mount a DSLR (or something else notably heavier) though if you're extending the arm out. Really pleased with it for my use though.

smallish, somewhat flimsy but very inexpensive
This is almost exactly what you'd expect for a Chinese Magic Arm knockoff at a fraction of a real Manfrotto model.First of all, it's tiny- do check measurents. Secondly, the clamp is made of plastic, so can't take a lot of stress and can't be tightened too hard. It also is quite small, so will only clamp onto smaller items. You won't be able to clamp it onto anything with the heft of a scaffolding pole, or even the average monitor arm. This can only hold quite small items- and only securely at certain angles. A tiny, light plastic LED ring light will probably work at most angles, as will a tiny LED panel video light. As long as you know what you're buying and temper your expectations, it isn't terrible. However, if you've used Manfrotto magic arms and that's what you're after, you're better off gritting your teeth and paying the non-trivial price for the real deal- especially if you're hoping to mount anything expensive.
