nonda USB Type C to USB 3.0 Adapter, Thunderbolt 3 to USB Adapter Aluminum with Indicator LED for MacBook Pro 2019/2018, MacBook Air 2018, Pixel 3, Dell XPS and More Type-C Devices (Space Gray)

Well made adapter, not the cheapest but seems well engineered - only time will tell how long it lasts. I'm using it with a 2015 Retina MacBook and so far it's handled everything I've tried, including; Connecting to a Nikon D600, connecting to and powering a WD My Passport HDD, assorted memory sticks, downloading photos from iPhone 5 and syncing/charging Kobo e-reader. I bought the "space grey" colour, and it's not a bad match for the MacBook (not exactly the same, but honestly it's close enough!). Shame it doesn't come with some kind of small case or pouch, so it'd be less likely to scratch anything it's stored/carried with (it is hard aluminium with crisp edges - definitely don't chuck it in the same sleeve as your laptop). Without a case, or anywhere to attach a tether, I can see it easily getting lost. You can get plastic adapters cheaper than this, but I'd seen good reviews of this one and it seemed worth treating myself to something decent. No regrets so far. I will update this review if there are any long term problems that appear. I bought this myself, with my own hard-earned cash, and did NOT receive any kind of discount or freebie for writing this review (seriously, I feel I should mention that - 90% of the reviews I've read recently on electronics accessories seem to be sponsored, a disappointing trend). [UPDATE] I've been using this for about a month now, and I started feeling a bit guilty about giving it 4 stars. I mean, it does everything it says it would, and does it well. So I've upgraded the rating to 5 stars. The only reason for withholding a star in the first place was the lack of a storage pouch, clip or lanyard - anything to stop it getting lost and/or rattling around loose in a bag. Hopefully Nonda will include this sometime in the future. A simple silicon rubber "bung" that plugged into the USB-A end, with a loop on it for a lanyard or clip would be all that's needed, and surely wouldn't cost much to manufacture in large quantities (if I had any Sugru I'd be tempted to try and make my own!).

The adapter works well with my iPad Pro 2018. It is small, very well built and it performs as it should. I can't say anything bad about this item. Compared to the Apple equivalent: - The Apple version costs roughly double the Nonda - The Apple version is made of plastic. Nonda is made of metal (3 available colours) - The Apple version offers no visual feedback. Nonda has a small LED that shows when it is powered - The Apple version is is made of two pieces with a wire that connects them. Nonda is a single small piece. Even with all the cool-factor that Apple tries (and often fails) to inject in its products, I can't see any good reason to buy the Apple version. P.S. I have no links with the producer or the seller. I paid the full price for the item without receiving anything more than what I paid for.

Overall the product is really good. It has worked perfectly with any device I have connected it with and that includes external HDDs that have transferred a lot of data. I don't use these adapters all the time - mostly with external HDDs to backup data from time to time. The build quality looked excellent with the small form factor and sleek design. After around a year, one of the adapters I purchased started to fall apart. When removing from my MacBook Pro, the casing started to detach from the internal unit. A firm push fixed the problem and joined the case and internal unit back together. Today, both parts completely detached from one another. Its unfortunate because the adapters are not used a great deal so I was hoping to get a longer run with them. The other adapter looks fine so perhaps just an unlucky adapter. I would buy again because the size and design/colour looks great and they were reliable when used.

This is a lovely product. Incredibly well made - very similar to Apple's own standards. The metal is almost indistinguishable from the metal of my MacBook Pro, Space Grey. The connection is snug and the thing has a pretty small white LED once you have plugged it in. Please see the photo of how the connection and colour appear next to the charger cable. Yes, you can't fit two of these little things in, but you would have to be a bit dumb to think you could! Every USB device I have connected works perfectly. As I use my MBP for design, a graphics tablet, printer, scanner, and other peripherals have no lag and it is as if you are plugging your device straight into your laptop. I have a hard drive that I use for my Time Machine backups and the speed is just as quick thanks to the incredible design and engineering that has gone into this. As this thing is small you are likely to misplace it, so I would recommend getting a couple - at the current price, it's easy to justify. Please do let me know if you found this review helpful.

Bought this for my 2017 Macbook Pro and it works great. Charges my iPhone and transfers data with ease (I've had adapters before which did just one or the other, so I think it's worth praising when an adapter does it all), e.g. installing apps from Xcode or reading a USB memory card. Also looks very solid and premium. I guess my only criticism would be that whatever USB device/ cable you put it will stick out about 5mm (the fact I've flagged up such a tiny, pedantic issue is testament to how good this adapter is in every other way).

I am a professional photographer who works to tight deadlines. As such fast data transfer speeds are essential. Having bought the new MacBook Pro, discovered that despite good reviews, most the USB cables available on Amazon, by Companies are utter rubbish. I won't name names, but I have bought 4 cables from 3 manufacturers, all of which have had to be sent back, with transfer speeds that of USB 2 or slower. I am happy to say that this Adapter is as fast as apples, and far more portable as well. USB-C is still very new, and there area lot of companies out there putting out rubbish. This NoNDA adapter is well made, compact and most importantly, it works as advertised. Highly recommended!

Very pleased with this USB adapter – it is robust, compact, has no messy cable and there are colour matches for all the new (2019) MacBook Airs. Initially, I found the connection to be unstable, as I was reluctant to force an adapter into the Thunderbolt port of a new laptop. But given that the Apple charging cable requires surprising pressure to connect and disconnect, I gently persisted with the Nonda adapter and it clicked into place. Now the connection is good and the LED indicator light is an added bonus. If there is a design issue, it's with the port, not the adapter.

I purchased this item some time and from reviews and images it looked sturdy and on recipient it was exactly that, using the item regularly having to transfer things over from MacBook to a portable hard drive. After around six months of using it, I found the device to come apart in that the metal casing came away from the USB adapter itself and I had to keep pushing it back in.

A clean and simple way to attach USB A cables to a USB C port – works just as expected. On a MacBook pro, you won't be able to use 2 of these adapters side by side, but I have been able to connect another standard-sized USB C cable next to this adapter without any problem. Note that the cable locking mechanism is tight for both the male and female sections, which ensures cables don't accidentally come loose. The female port connection (where you plug in the USB A cable) seemed overly tight at first, but it's actually quite easy to remove the cable as long as you don't squeeze the top or bottom of the adapter (the 'long' sides). The status light is clearly visible but quite dim, so it's not a distraction in a dark room.

IT'S GOOD AND VERY USEFUL

Enbona sin problemas y queda firme. Lo usé para grabar videos en mi cel con el audio de mi mezcladora. Se enciende un MiniLed en el adaptador cuando hace contacto con la entrada de cel. Sólo falta evaluar la durabilidad, ya que lo he usado sólo 2 semanas, y sin problemas hasta el momento. Aún así se ve de buena calidad y resistente.

This product is very useful, compact, cute

I have a very, very thin laptop. The Lenovo Yoga Book c930. It's only 9.9mm thick. Instead of a physical keyboard, this laptop has two screens on it. This allows the bottom of the laptop to be extremely thin, like the top screen. One issue is that it's near impossible to purchase any attachments, including USB-C cables that are slim enough so that they don't raise a side of the laptop off the table when inserted into the USB port. How does this work? Let's see! THE GOOD: First thing is that this is very nicely made. Solid. USB Flash Drives insert with ease, stay snug and also remove nicely. I have no concerns about this lasting for a long time. It has a small LED light on the top of it to show when it's connected to a USBC connection. But, will you be able to see that light? THE BAD: For me the answer is No. When I first inserted this right side up so I could see the LED I was disappointed that it was thick enough to raise the edge of my laptop off the ground. However, as USB-C is reversible, I then realized that they have designed this connector with an offset. This means that if I turn the connector upside down, it's actually much slimmer profile on the bottom. This fits much better for me, but as a result there is no LED light for me to see if it's connected properly. But, the fact that you essentially get to choose two options for thickness is really nice. I just wish the LED was visible on both sides, or the end. PACKAGING: very minimal, was able to tear it open with my hands in seconds. COLOUR: I did order the Space Grey - and I think I got Silver. My laptop is Grey and this does not match at all. I have a Space Grey iPad and this too, does not match what I was sent. CONCLUSION: Let's be honest, seeing the little LED light isn't a deal breaker. And ultimately I'm really happy with this and I think for the $ it's the best I could get right now. I'm going to order another. 5 stars because it's totally worth it.
