Invaluable <3
Yes, you typically have to compile the drivers...but, if you can't do that, then you likely have no use for this anyway and you should just get something else.Don't lower the rating for lack of understanding;the product itself is perfect.Read. Learn. "GIT MORE GOODER"This little antenna is one of the most valuable pieces of hardware in my work bag, next to my laptop.Ok.

Plug and play, Win 10
I had to move my DSL router to a different room and experienced frequent WiFi loss to my tower PC. I had previously connected to my router via cat 5 cable, so not sure if my connection problem was due to structural interference or a flaky on board WiFi adapter. I'm only about 20 feet from the router but a brick facia and two insulated walls were now in my signal path. I needed an adapter that could be placed above the floor on a window sill. This adapter has resolved my problem. Worked plug and play with my Win 10 PC. Included CD driver not used/needed. I disabled my onboard adapter in Windows settings, rebooted. Can't remember if I rebooted after connecting this adapter or not but it works with Windows drivers. The cable could be longer for a PC located on the floor and the base could be a little bigger/heavier for stability. It is designed such that a weight/magnet could be attached to the base if desired. Should be fine for most users.Good product, works as designed, solved my problem.

Windows great. Linux greater.
Works amazing with windows. Did not even register on kali Linux. UPDATE: upgrading to 5 stars b/c on linux I had to install the drivers for it to work. Once I did, it picked up even better on linux. Amazing! 5 stars.

Very COoL (and tiny!)
GR8T (little) adapter. Like my GF said on our 3rd date; "It's so cute and tiny". I'm not sure what she meant.. but I digress. I have a (beat to death, abused Mint 22.blaw.blaw) that didn't recognize it out of the box. I really need to install a fresh distro. It's been years. Anyway, I just had to compile the driver (from the interwebs as there is nothing for Linux on the CD) and she was good to go (sounds like my GF again). But that's what Linux is all about. Small price to pay to ditch Windows. If someone steals this I WILL BUY another.

Does not work with ubuntu - requires you to compile and install custom third-party drivers
The manufacturer does not provide drivers for Linux. If you’re a very technical person, you can locate third-party drivers and compile and install them. However, for my system, I tried several methods and was not able to get it working. I did several hours of additional research online for alternative methods and tried several of those which also failed. Returning item and buying something. Compatible and easier to use. Since I wasn’t able to get it to work on the B2, or Debian, I decided to install the latest version of Kelly Lennox updated. I then tried several methods suggested online to install the drivers for the adapter, and none of them worked either. Unfortunately, this item is not compatible with any versions or distributions of Linux, including the latest version of Cali enormous amount of work time and effort to try and get it to work if you’re able to get it to work at all. I’ll be returning the item and would not recommended for anyone using anything other than a Windows operating system. there are other USB Wi-Fi adapters that still have the ability to go into promiscuous mode and capture packets without all of the trouble And difficulties. Horrible product. Needs a lot of work and the manufacturer should provide certified drivers. anything else is just a crapshoot

Linux users need to DL/install new realtek drivers. Monitor mode works like a champ!
I am using with Parrot Security which is a linux distro similar to Kali Linux and needed a wifi adapter that would work for monitor mode and packet injection for penetration testing. This card is exactly what I needed in order to access nearby 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz channels while remaining discreet and not looking like a sketch weirdo with the huge wifi card plugged into my laptop. This card is not plug and play for linux but all you have to do is install new realtek drivers and as you can see in my screenshots it works like a charm.. I live in an apartment building with 18 units and the card picked up about 25 SSIDs.You can install the new drivers for debian linux (kali/parrot) with this command or something similar depending on your distro:apt-get install -y realtek-rtl88xxau-dkmsCard was plug and play for windows 10.It comes with a CD that contains Mac and Windows PCs as well as a USB extension cable and adapter to get increased cord length (see photo), which would be perfect if you wanted to be able to mount the adapter some where higher up, or to in your vechicle for war driving.Speeds were decent. About 128 mps down / 12 mps up -- (See screen shot)Range is not the best with the stock atenna but for a tiny $16 dollar card it is better than expected. The atenna is also detachable so I will be trying a long range antenna on it as well and that will probably help out quite a bit.To get anything else like this you will likely be paying twice as much on other less reliable brands.I can see why Alfa is the go-to brand for penetration testers, hackers, and network administrators.8/10 would reccommend for anyone that needs a wifi adapter on a budget, especially someone who wants to do discreet close-mid range pen testing using linux.
