Best investment ($ and time) to learn about modern Banking
A marvel of lucid exposition of modern banking as a business and covering the basics to understand banking operations, governance, strategy and regulatory framework. Many good examples of illustration and informatics to explain complex processes like ICAAP/ILAAP and the values they embedded.Must read for bankers all all levels.

An excellent book bot for practitioners and scientist
I always enjoy reading books by Mr. Choudhry, because he combines both academic perfection and cutting-edge practical banking skills to explain quite difficult banking and financial concepts. The book offers ample of practical examples, serving as an excellent guideline for current and prospective bankers, finance professors, and financial analysts, undergraduate and graduate students, and banking enthusiasts. The author provides an expert view on risk management strategies and ALM concept, including many practical implications and challenges that shape modern global banking. Well done!

GREEDY AS HELL but good info | NO DCF
I haven’t read this book, only skimmed the content (which seems awesome), but I received the book printed upside-down and backwards (or the cover placed the wrong way)?Maybe I’m missing something, because everything else seems immaculate, but yeah it’s strange. Aside from that, the content seems to be really thought provoking based on my skimming. I’ll update with a full review once it’s read.POST-HOC UPDATE: I finished going through this book along with the accompanying workbook and overall, I’d give it a 7/10.In the past two years I’ve taken a myriad of courses (CFA, CFI FMVA, etc) and read a plethora of financial modeling books, this being the most recent addition. As far as the books go, this has probably been my favorite. It’s very practical and does a good job explaining (elucidating?) the meaning behind the equations. The examples are modern (Costco, Amazon, etc) and the nuances are very educational. This book falls short in the same way all the others I have read do as well - NO FINANCIAL MODEL INCLUDED. Who woulda thought that a $100 textbook and $30 accompanying workbook wouldn’t include the DCF model, but it doesn’t. Apparently the “University” edition (meant for student) doesn’t include the DCF model, and buying it as a stand-alone purchase was almost $150. Are you kidding me? Why would they not make this more known? It should be in massive, bold letters across the cover.Trying to learn how to create a DCF without having a working model where you can check cell references and see the contents of each cell is like trying to learn to be a mechanic without having access to a car. It’s ridiculous. Every business is so different than learning the general equations that drive a DCF is almost akin to not knowing anything at all. That’s why I bought this book in the first place — I know all the equations, I wanted to learn how to apply them to any business model. Least important in a model are the cash flows. It’s all about the pro-forma projections and nailing the drivers. Even after completing this book, I’m still left wondering the same thing.Would have been a 10/10 if the DCF was actually included, but their penny-pinching has earned them an 7/10. Shameful, truly. If any edition SHOULD have the DCF model included, you would think it would be the UNIVERSITY edition for STUDENTS preparing to enter the financial field. The greed is genuinely astonishing. Without the model, this book should cost no more than $50, workbook included. The information is good, but common. The workbook is 50% BS as well, although the other 50% is decent.Hell, get a ChatGPT subscription for $20/month and spend 5 months asking it questions about DCFs, your money will go MUCH further.
