The original 2008 dead space was such an innovative progression of survival horror which I was absolutely in love with on release.I'm happy to say that the remake retains the oppresive atmosphere and survival horror roots while updating it with some absolutely gorgeous new visuals and a few new gameplay tweaks.

Being of an age where i can remember buying the original Dead Space on the first day it was released, i was both excited and nervous to play the remake. We have all played remakes where they heart, soul and meat of what made the original such a great game has been watered down, removed, or diluted to a point where playing the remake damages your fond memories and nostalgia for the original. Thankfully this is not the case for the Dead Space remake. Hand on my heart I loved every minute of the remake. It genuinely felt like I was playing Dead Space, albeit a smoother, better rendered version. I felt they hadn’t lost the visceral, atmospheric, brutal and stunning visuals, sounds and feel that made the original one of the best sci-fi horror games I have played. The story has a few tweaks and alterations that I feel don’t detract from the story, in fact I felt some enhanced the story. One of the most notable inclusions that I really liked was the Hammod/Chen story/dialogue. Like anything everyone has an opinion and perhaps there are some faults or areas of improvement but as far as I’m concerned this deserves 5 stars.

This remake is incredible! I would firstly recommend a good headset to fully submerse yourself into the experience! As the atmospheric sounds and music are incredible, I also nearly had a heart attack when a morph smashed through a wall at me, just when I thought I was safe!The graphics and detail are fantastic, crisp and sharp, I turned off performance mode in the game settings as this takes away from the visuals to help the game run at 60fps, but I found the game still runs smoothly with this off.Scare factor: very high, lots of blood and gore! I’m a horror veteran with the likes of resident evils and evil withins, so used to this kind of stuff, but if your new to the horror genre and this franchise, the pause button will become your best friend to grab a breather!I love also in this game how you can react with your surroundings, for example the dead bodies on the floor you can hit them around and when you walk into them they move about, so lovely realism!Anyway I highly recommend this game to all! Newcomers and veterans alike!

I never played the original back in the day. This game is great and reminds me of older resident evil games.

I’ve been gaming for quite a few years now and this is one of the best games I have ever played, no complications, great weapons, shows you exactly where to go for each objective. Really great game.

Wow stunning gameIf you like horror type then this is definitely for you , so far about 3 hours in graphics on my Xbox series x are a amazing , no lagTop game

I'm a casual gamer, not a hardened win at all costs horror gamer, so if you're like me, playing this will be an exercise in repetitiveness. The blurb for the remastered game makes it seem like more fun than it is and this is for two star removing (in my view) reasons. Firstly, unless you're OK with spoilers and a quick search on the net, the lack of pointers in game of how to beat certain parts of levels, like end chapter bosses is frustrating and you get sick of 'dying' (BTW, I beat far cry 5 in a respectable sixteen hours total), secondly, costing another star, is that even on the easiest level of play it's blooming hard, never mind the even busier, harder levels, as you constantly get too low or empty on health, ammo, oxygen, and/or 'stasis power' and as for one addition, a creature about 5 chapters in that can only be dodged at first and is able to regenerate over and over, wasting more ammo as you blindly search for an exit ( and this is at the easy level) it had me swearing at the screen half the time. My middle star score is admittedly because I like to have fun when playing and regardless of constant jump scares (which I accept) and having to use your head tactically when seeing off monsters (also accepted as part and parcel), it's not my personal cup of tea and don't wish to denigrate anyone who's into this, because it IS good graphically, musically and story wise, just too much like hard work for little old casual dinosaur me, simply after a bit of risk/reward gaming after a long day and even if I have to do some 'grinding', the in game pickup rewards are a bit too frugal in this game for me, making the experience a constantly frustrating one!!
