excellent saw!! not very "portable" but i don't need it to be!
SICK MITER SAW!! cuts very accurate, and the batteries last a really long time!! i'm glad i got it. now there is sawdust friggin' everywhere, but that's what happens when you cut wood, especially with no real dust collection. the bag works ok i guess (there's always sawdust in it), but obviously it would work much better if i used a vacuum. no fault of the saw though.despite being battery powered, i wouldn't really say it's portable though. it's pretty heavy (about 65 pounds i think) and pretty big too, but what i needed it for was a small work area with a pretty limited electrical setup. the charger certainly won't trip any breakers, and if i always keep a couple of batteries on the charger, i can use this all day with no tripped breakers. depending what you cut and how often the batteries can last all day easily.the forward sliding mechanism is awesome too, because i have a pretty narrow work area and i can keep this almost against the wall!that and not tripping breakers are my reasons for buying this and i don't regret it one bit!

So cool !
Great saw. Cuts fantastic. True and accurate. I love the batteries. Matches my other Makita LXT tools. One down side is I had to make an adapter for my vacuum so it would fit the dust collector. They could have easily included an adapter but it is sold separately for some reason. I have mine mounted to the Makita stand and it looks great. If you are into the LXT system it is worth considering this saw. Update after having it for several months and using it for a varity of tasks I have to say that it works great. I did buy a Makita horizontal work clamp and it was very handy holding material I cut to make dados. I wish they would make the depth adjustment screw longer to allow adjustment over the full working height of the blade. I was able to easily modify it for the project. Unfortunately it seems Makita stopped making the crown molding jigs for this saw. In their defense the saw can make any compound cut so all need to do is brush up on my math and cut crown flat on the table the correct way instead of using a jig to hold it at an angle. Cuts 3/4 walnut like butter. Tip to anyone who is worried about not having AWS on this saw to control the vacuum. If you are using it in the shop hook up an Alexa enabled plug and an echo dot and you have voice controlled dust collection. “Alexa, turn on the vacuum” or for the non-adventurous types I guess you can just press the button on the shop vac, but what fun is that?

Probably the best in class.
A very good and capable rendition of a 10" Makita corded version. This will handle anything the corded version can, and with ease. If you are a fan of Makita tools, this will not disappoint you. Capable of being fine-tuned to zero tolerances with a little effort. If you need to cut the cord, this will do the job for you. It is not a compact tool, it is a full sized saw with plenty of weight and heft for the big jobs too. If you get the Makita WTSO6 saw horse type stand, it compliments this saw very well. This should be a carpenter's first choice all around saw.I might suggest, that if you can buy this saw in person at a big box store at a good price, it might be a safer way to purchase it. This saw was shipped to me (UPS) in its factory retail carton and the box really took a severe beating getting to me; I thought for sure the saw inside would be damaged, but it seemed to have survived ok.

Well-Built and Accurate - Great for DIYers, But Not a Corded Replacement
The Makita XSL06PT is an impressive cordless miter saw with excellent build quality, as you’d expect from Makita. I’ve used it on a variety of materials, from hardwood trim to framing lumber, and once I adjusted the zero clearance insert, the cuts have been clean, splinter-free, and extremely consistent. The sliding action is smooth, and the miters and bevels hold calibration very well over time. Just be sure to keep the rails clean and oiled for optimal performance. The laser guide, while useful, is slightly off - so don’t rely on it for critical accuracy. A shadow line or manual alignment works better in practice. In terms of power, it can feel slightly underpowered on thicker stock, especially as the battery charge drops. Battery life itself depends on the Ah rating you’re using, but there’s definitely a noticeable dip in torque as the batteries drain.Portability-wise, it’s on the heavy side, so while it is cordless, you won’t want to haul it around too often. That said, for light-duty jobsite tasks or garage-based DIY projects, it’s a great addition to the tool lineup. Just don’t expect it to fully replace a powerful corded saw if you’re doing production-level work. The dust port is only marginally effective unless you hook it up to a shop-vac - then it performs reasonably well. All in all, I’d give it 4 stars. It’s a great saw for DIYers and light jobsite use, especially when power access is limited. Just know its limitations and plan your workload around it.
