WOW! Where Had This Been Hiding?
Where Had This Been Hiding? I don't know, but I happened across it while visiting other websites. On the few sites I saw it, they were asking full MSRP. Then, I found it here at a substantial savings. Please note, this has been discontinued by the manufacturer. I found out through research that it actually came out several years ago, but I didn't know about it. When I purchased mine a few weeks ago, Amazon was the only seller. Now there are several, so I suspect they've been purchased at a close-out price, but I try not to buy from third-party sellers things of this nature.I have fried twice so far and there's no other like it on the market for home use. It truly has a fog-free tempered-glass huge window that you can actually see through while it's frying. This is due to a dual-purpose fan which not only keeps the window from fogging, it also forces odors through a filter. I know, I wasn't accustomed to hearing the sound of a fan while deep frying either, but considering what it does, I don't mind at all.The thermostat is accurate and does indeed reach the 375 degree Fahrenheit mark as measured with a brand new analog thermometer and the set temperature recovers rapidly after food is added. I must disclose that my frying so far has only been with food at room or refrigerator temperatures-I have not tried any frozen foods in it as yet. What many that are newer to deep fryer uses would benefit by knowing is 1) You cannot overload the basket-food needs to have oil surrounding it to fry evenly. 2) Never drop the basket in rapidly. Take the time to slowly submerge the food into the hot oil. 3) Give the oil an additional minute or two after the temperature light tells you the oil is ready. It is, after all, a thermostat and it may still fluctuate slightly. 4) Don't expect to fry the same amount of frozen food as you would unfrozen foods, and again, putting the basket into the oil slowly will allow the oil's temperature to recover much more rapidly. This fryer is very well made with the window lid easily lifting off for cleaning and has a top-quality stainless steel frying basket, stainless steel oil container (not coated with a cheap nonstick coating that will eventually flake off), and a stainless steel body like a fryer I had many years back, but this Krups is much sturdier. The filter is easily accessible and replacement filters are inexpensive. It has an "oil ready" light and a mechanical timer with chime as well.I originally wanted a Breville analog model, but the reviews about its inability to reach the desired frying temperature discouraged me and their only other offering (as of this writing) is a digital model which is not to my liking for this type of appliance. This Krups does take up a good deal of real estate so you'll want to either store it in a cabinet or buy it its own table or cart for storage when not in use.

DON'T BUY. DIDN'T LAST A YEAR BEFORE THE CONTROL BURNED UP. AFTER 8 USES BEFORE IT MALFUNCTIONED.
I LOVED IT AT FIRST. AFTER ABOUT 8 MONTHS I COULD SMELL A BURNING SMELL. NEXT TIME I TRIED TO USE IT IT MADE A POPPING SOUND THAT SCARED THE CRAP OUT OF ME. HAD TO THROW IT AWAY. UNSAFE TO CONTINUE USING. I HAD TO CHANGE THE OIL AFTER EVERY USE TO KEEP THE OIL SMELL DOWN.

Highly Recommended!
This is the 3rd deep fryer we've purchased in the past 15 years. Hands down this is the best. Food comes out crispier and remains crispy for a longer time because it does not get soggy. I believe that it's due to the fact that this fryer can hold and maintain the proper frying temperatures. If I were to nitpick, it's quite big -- hard to store but great for cooking big batches of food for gatherings.Highly recommended!

Terrible customer service!
I liked the fryer for a few weeks before it started to make a noise like the fan was hitting something. I contacted Krups and they had me send it in for repair under warranty. So far it as been almost 3 months since they received it and they keep telling me they are waiting for a part from France. This is absolutely terrible customer service! They cannot even tell me what part needed to be replaced. I would never buy another Krups product again.

A really great deep fryer
This is the best deep fryer I could imagine. Holds temperature extremely well. Filter system works very well and keeps odors way down - and keeps the large view window clear. Cleans up easily - mostly dishwasher safe!
