Higher-Priced than Similar Looking Binoculars. But Here's Why.
So you're shopping around for binoculars. And if you've been looking at different Hidegazer brand binoculars, you may have noticed something unusual. The price difference between two pairs of binoculars that seem almost identical. The Hidegazer model HD-110 looks almost the same as these. It has many of the same features. And yet it only costs $80. And here's the really strange thing....Hidegazer doesn't really explain WHY the price is so different from these binoculars. Which retail for $249. They do mention the different features. But not WHY it matters. So I'll make this simple for you.THREE REASONS WHY THIS SET COSTS MORE (AND FOR THE RIGHT REASONS)1. The less-expensive pair of binoculars (like most cheap ones) have full-coated lenses. But this pair has FMC, which is fully multi-coated. The multi-coated lenses have a special layer added to the lens that cuts down on reflection. Here's what that means to you, as the owner....When you're looking through these binoculars, sunlight is naturally shining towards you, and towards the outer lenses. The more light that can pass through those outer lenses, the better the visibility will be. Lower-priced binoculars are full-coated. They're more likely to reflect light back out. FMC (fully multi-coated) lenses cause less reflection of light. So more light enters through the lenses, and you get better visibility with your binoculars. So while Hidegazer does mention that these have FMC lenses, they never explain how that makes these much better binoculars overall. Anyone can afford binoculars with fully multi-coated lenses, definitely go that route (one reason to buy these).2. These binoculars are nitrogen-filled. This is SO important. And yet Hidegazer never explains why, in detail. If you wear glasses, or know someone that does, you know exactly what happens when you go from a cooler environment to a humid environment. Glasses fog up. So if you step out of an air conditioned home or vehicle outside when it's humid, condensation occurs. And your glasses will fog up. It's no different with binoculars. When temperatures or humidity shift quickly, binoculars can fog. Not just on the outside lenses. But on the inside, as well. Which is a major headache. Because now you can't even use the binoculars for the reason that you got them. But it gets worse. The more often you get condensation/fogging inside of a pair of binoculars, the more likely you are to get fungus growth on the inside of them. And eventually, you own an unusable pair of binoculars. And that's what happens when you buy inexpensive binoculars that have regular air inside of them. But Hidegazer has a fix for that problem, with these binoculars in particular. When Hidegazer designed these binoculars in particular, they purged all the air and water vapor that's inside of them. And then, using a high-pressure method, they filled the inside of the binoculars with nitrogen. Which is a non-reactive gas that's "dry." Basically, they fog-proofed these things. So you can take them out of a vehicle that had the AC running cold, into a warmer and humid environment outside, and the nitrogen inside the binoculars will prevent fogging. Which means you can use the binoculars on shorter notice. And don't have to worry about fungal growth ruining your binoculars over time.3. These binoculars are waterproof. Most other binoculars, and less expensive ones like the $80 Hidegazers, are only SPLASH proof. So if it starts to rain and you get some water on the cheaper binoculars, they'll probably survive. But they could potentially get damaged, if they get too wet. But this pair is IP rated as waterproof. In other words, you could drop these things into a shallow stream for 20 minutes, take them out, and they'll still work perfectly once you dry the outside off.So if you're wondering why some binoculars only cost $80 or less, while these cost $250, now you know. I don't understand why Hidegazer didn't make these differences more clear. But it doesn't matter anymore, because Just broke it down for you. You can see more and see clearer thanks to the multi-layer coating that not all binoculars have. They're fogproof and resistant to interior damage, because they were filled with nitrogen. And they're designed to still work, even if you completely dropped them into a bucket of water. The cheaper binoculars aren't BAD. It's just that these binoculars are like the Mercedes Benz or BMW of binoculars. So the only questions you have to ask yourself is 1. How high-quality do you want your binoculars to be, and 2. Are these within your budget range? If you deserve the BMW of binoculars, and you can swing the $250, then buy these. If you're on a fixed budget for now, or you just want to get a cheap pair for watching nearby birds in the park, get the cheap ones. But at least now, you understand what makes the more expensive pair worth owning, and how they differ from the cheaper ones.

Extremely serious high quality binoculars
Binoculars are something of an anomaly among tech gadgets. If you've ever struggled with a cheap, underpowered pair you know full well how great it is to have a high end pair like these. I've used these almost every day since receiving them, primarily for observing the many birds and animals that pass through my yard. They're amazing in terms of their quality and I comment to my wife every day how excellent they are.At the same time, they're not particularly interesting to talk about. I can talk about cameras, computers, cellphones, etc. all day long but talking about binoculars feels like discussing the finer points of my contact lenses. The fact that I have a couple of soft shards of plastic in my eyes that allows me to see perfectly is downright amazing, but the specifics of them are uninteresting. Maybe I just don't know enough about binoculars to discuss them intelligently.I have no idea how much binoculars of this quality would have cost even a few years ago. When I was a kid my dad had some binoculars that he kept on the top shelf of our hall closet. My brother and I were always interested in them, but my dad would get salty any time we started messing with them. I don't know how much they cost (and, for that matter, I don't know what my dad used them for) but it was enough that he didn't want us playing with them. These binoculars run circles around my dad's old binoculars, no doubt at a significantly lower price point. I can't tell you all of the technical stuff but they're light, easy to adjust, and have a surprisingly small form factor given their power. They're nitrogen filled, have BAK4 prism glass and are waterproof and fogproof.I can't say I'm an expert on binoculars so I'm not sure how to explain their performance. I live out in the woods and there are birds and animals everywhere. I took these out on the deck today and--for my purposes at least--they performed great. I had no problem focusing and they did a good job with magnification even with birds that were flying. Occasionally, cool birds like owls and hawks show up in our yard and I'm looking forward to using the binoculars when they do.I guess what I need to do is read up on binoculars so the next time I'm asked about 'em I can discuss better. I do know that you can spend a small fortune on binoculars with major brand names. Given that fact, these binoculars do a phenomenal job at a serious value price. Highly recommended!

Excellent
These things are excellent from top to bottom. I'm no expert when it comes to binoculars - I just use them to spy on the colony of bats that live in a small copse next to my apartment - but the image quality offered by the HIDEGAZER 10x42s is noticeably better than that of my $150 pair from Hontry. The image is sharp all the way to the edges, and there's no distortions or aberrations I can detect (though I have no eye for this kind of thing, so more experienced users might notice the flaws I miss). What impresses me the most about these binoculars, beyond the build quality and light weight, is the quality of the accessories. They're usually an afterthought and feel pretty cheap, but the case that comes with this pair is actually very good. It's a nice addition that only makes the binoculars themselves feel high quality.

Crisp and clear
These are the first pair of binoculars I’ve ever owed. I’ve used others before but none were this high quality caliber. There are lightweight (1.81 lbs) and waterproof/fog proof making these perfect for all types of uses outdoors. I can believe how crisp and clear images are. They come with a strap and can be worn around your neck for hours because they are so lightweight. These wound be an excellent gift for any outdoor adventurer. They are definitely something that will last a long time. Much better than the old bulky binoculars of the past. Very happy with these!
