Expensive, but it works
I was willing to shell out for this so that I could do a repointing job on my chimney myself instead of paying contractors to do it. That was saving me many thousands of dollars, so I figured I would get all the safety equipment to safely harness myself to the roof. My safety harness came with a temporary ring you could install, but I figured there are enough times I need to get onto my roof that having a permanent ring there would make things much easier. The anchor installed easily and securely. I had a ridge vent that was kind of in the way, but was able to cut it out where this strap went and replace the shingles. You can hardly tell it is there and doesn't stand out.Luckily, I didn't put it to the test with having to save me. I did put weight on it and used it to hold my weight on the safety rope as a static load with no problem. 5 stars.

Installation wasn't that bad...
So HD said they had 6 permanent mounts. When I got there, all they had was temporary mounts ......I don't care that you're doing inventory and it will all come out... I need them now. So I ordered these, and they appeared a day later. Really, installing wasn't that bad. I figured out where the wall started under the overhang and a couple rafters back from that, pulled about three cap shingles, lined it up with the rafter and then nailed this down. I also drilled a couple more holes and used some high quality deck screws to make it a bit more secure ...cause ...nails, really? I did one for each end of the house because it has a ledge that I need to walk out on to paint and its about 20 foot down to the cement on the short side. Much cheaper than hiring a painter and way cheaper than a trip to the hospital.

Little expensive for what it is . . but it works great.
PRO:1. Comes with hardware and tar.2. Has a lot of other uses too.CON:1. Price. I could make one myself, just don't have time.2. Did not need the tar that came with it, but it was nice.Other:1. Install it so it is not going to come loose.2. Keep in mind this is for ONE PERSON.

Super Anchor Safety Retro-Fit Anchor Kit
Part # 2815. This is a perfect safety anchor. I have a two story home with one side of the home rather steep...a little scary to be on the roof. These anchors are well built, stout, and I found to be just right for the retro-fit. I was specifically looking for the stainless-steel anchors for the salt-air climate that I live in. Utilized my roofer to install the anchor at the ridge. All the parts there for install including a self-sealing rubber gasket, specialty nails, and clear directions. The most difficult part was ensuring that the anchors would be installed properly to ridge boards (one area) and trusses (another area).

Installation was easy if you're familiar with how roofs are built
Installation was easy if you're familiar with how roofs are built. The ridge cap shingles were fairly easy to pry up with a flat bar or even better a shingle ripper. It's barely noticeable on the roof and made my solar panel install possible without my wife worrying about how to collect on the life insurance.I didn't fall so I can't say how it works there but I did lean into it numerous times and didn't worry about it giving out on me. Good addition to any roof if you're going to be up there more than twice.

Great retrofit hook
Great retrofit hook. Not only do I have a very steep roof (10/12 pitch), but my house is also elevated for flood waters. From the peak of my roof to the ground is about 40 feet. Needing to accomplish some shingle repairs, I bought some good safety equipment to protect my neck. For the install, I pulled up my ridge vent and fastened the directly to the roof joists. I now have a very strong tie off point on the front and rear rooflines that along with my bucket-of-safe should keep me from falling off my roof.

Safety first.
Bought years ago and installed on my home. Bought new for son’s house and roofer refused to install so cancelled order. I feel safer with my roof anchors keeping me safe.
