DERNORD 240V 5500W Tri-clamp Ripple Heating Element Stainless Steel Immersion Water Heater with 3-Wire Electrical Locking Plug (1.5 Inch Tri clamp)

I changed from the wired elements as this is easier to disconnect just by unplugging and then removing and the cord doesn't have to be dragged with it to clean in the sink. I got the 2 inch version and it works great. For some reason I get less gunk on these elements and the stuff doesn't seem to stick to them as much as the other ones I replaced. I put a silicone O-ring over the prongs and when you plug in the cord the O-ring fills the small gap where the connection is made, so if water somehow gets near this it won't get into the connection. I really like mine and I would buy these again.

I bought 4 of these for a commercial brew kettle (4 BBL) and so far they are working great. Easy to install!

Works perfect for my 1.5in triclamp for my mash ton/kettle. This allows me to boil water much faster than my old 120v setup. Easy to clean with a little bit of steel wool, doesnt hurt the element at all. I'll buy again if I need another.

Decent element and the built in potting and plug is handy. However, the prongs are crude and sharp and arrived bent. I straightened them and had to file the edges smooth from the stamping flash. Have not used it yet in action so cannot report on reliability.

I used the 6500W element in a boiler with a 7500W rated receptacle, and the element began to melt at the plug after several (uneventful) uses. I'm lucky to have been around while it began to smoke, or it could have burned my house down!I have contacted DERNORD to replace this unit for a lower power element as I am not confident in the safety of the 6500W one.

Worked good both times I used it maybe too good, was a bit much for my application.

I use these heating elements for brewing beer. In the past I purchased similar elements from Chinese suppliers that did not have the three prong plug. They work too but you have to make a unction box and seal them so that they don't short out. The Dernord three prong connects make it a lot simpler, albeit at a cost.

Ordered this element to go electric from natural gas brewing. Punched a hole in my pot and bought a controller. Heated 6 gallons (24 ish litres) from 8C to 50C in 15 minutes. Delivery was fast. First electric brew day tomorrow.

Finally got the right one but no cover for wires nice safety features. Thanks
