Time... I rolled it out and let it air out for a day or so and it was fine. If you’ve a fabric steamer you could try that.

Is it machine washable?

No, we do not recommend putting your rug in a washing machine. As long as it's a short-pile, indoor rug, we recommend spot cleaning with resolve, and regular vacuuming is recommended. And you can use a carpet cleaner (shampooer) but it should be dried immediately and evenly.

in one picture it looks like there are lines going across the rug on the beige one...is that accurate? or just the way the picture is taken?

There are no lines going through the rug, it's the way the picture is. It's a nice area rug, I use it in my kitchen where I take my dogs in and out for their walks although it's a light color, it wears really well.
