Carplay AND Android Auto
Works for Android Auto AND Apple Carplay. I was looking for this specifically because I have iphone and wife has Android. I installed it, then updated firmware (simple process from website with images).Works great!Note: I got the parking break kit that unlocks some of the menus and it didn't work for App+ using Waze. When I launch Waze it asks me to apply parking break then release it then apply it again... I returned the cable and got a momentary switch that was normally closed 3/4 inch. I installed in inside one of the cubbies in the dash so it is not in view and when needed I can press and release the button. Works flawlessly... Connect it to ground and the green parking break wire. I attached the product link also. Alpinetech 19mm 3/4" Momentary NC Stainless Steel Metal Push Button Switch Screw Terminal Normally Closed

Interesting Challenge
Challenge accepted and overcome.Other than getting this into the radio bay of a 2011 Ram 1500 it was a breeze. You have to cut away the top metal band that goes over the radio to fit this monster in there (yeah it's got some depth to it).Few things to note. 1: For most vehicles you'll have to run 12v ignition power to the radio. Easy way to fix this is by going to 12v power plug that shuts off when the engine is off (passenger side on the Ram) and T-tap it. 2: You MUST connect the sea-foam green park sense wire in order to use Android Auto / CarPlay. In the case of my truck, which doesn't have this wire anywhere in the OEM harness... CHEAT. Again T-tapping is your friend. Just tap it to the ground wire. It always thinks it's in park, but issue overcome. As for use. It's pretty basic... but I wanted it for Android Auto. And it delivers there! Sound quality is better than expected even with the stock speakers in a "work truck". Microphone works great. Screen is very good.Few other notes after using it for a bit. 128gb flash drive = fail. Not compatible with anything larger than 64gb (formatted FAT32) after trial and error. Nothing in the manual, nothing from tech support. Also doesn't like the use of a USB hub. Single USB cable ONLY. Other than that, still purring along perfectly.

CarPlay + Awesome sound
Can't speak to most of the built-in functionality because I bought this for CarPlay and I love it. I put an aftermarket stereo and speakers in my car a few years ago and was never that impressed. It was a slight improvement over factory, but nothing special. Once I installed this Pioneer unit, wow! A huge improvement in the sound with the same speakers I installed years ago.The stereo was easy to install and looks great. No complaints.

Great unit. Made my subaru Outback look new
Great unit. Made my subaru Outback look new. Make sure you do your homework based on your car model as it is different form car to car. Get all the harnesses and tools. Pioneer made an exellent product here. I did not need the dvd playback so I got this model. It still plays videos out of usb so saved $100 on this one.Sounds great, easy to use. And apple carplay nuff said.

Great as far as I can tell in 09 Accord
I installed this in a 2009 Honda Accord. I used the Metra dash kit, wiring harness and the aftermarket parking break bypass. I’ll also suggest the pry tools for cars as it made getting the plastic off of the car to get to the screws very easy. I’d never installed an aftermarket deck before and it maybe took me a couple of hours from YouTube video on disassembly to fully installed. It has worked really well so far and I only really use it for radio and Apple Car Play. My only real complaint is that the display looks faded during the day even after adjusting brightness settings but this could my inexperience with setting these up (see attached picture for daytime shot) The display is well lit and looks fantastic at night though. I initially had an issue with getting a message that the USB had been disconnected, but once I replaced the lightning cable I had going to the female USB extension from the deck, everything worked fine.

My initial thoughts are that it's a nice sounding unit
I wrapped up the head unit install in my 06 Dodge Magnum R/T yesterday. My initial thoughts are that it's a nice sounding unit, and the display looks good. It has 3 higher voltage preouts, and reasonable built in tuning abilities. It's pretty affordable for what you get.The negatives are that it takes about 30+ seconds to start up and play music, and it always displays some stupid warning before it is ready to play that you either have to acknowledge or wait 5 or so seconds to go away on its own. In addition, it always asks to create a data base, but if you do create one (whatever that actually does, but I tried it anyway to get rid of the message), you lose the ability to repeat and random play within a specific folder, it treats all of your music as if it were in one big folder. My music is on a 128gb thumb drive. I like a lot of different music, so I put music in genre specific folders (i.e 80's New Wave, Punk, etc), and want to random play within those, rather that the whole collection, but that feature is lost if you allow it to create a data base, so you have to see it ask every single time you you turn it on, and just ignore it, even though you don't want to do it.One annoying thing that isn't the fault of the Pioneer, or maybe even the i-data Maestro I used to tie it all together, is my dash now displays "No Discs Loaded", which I assume is because this unit doesn't have a CD player, and my factory Premium Boston stereo had an internal 6 disc changer, so it seems to know I have no discs installed. DUMB!!!!Over all, it's pretty nice, yet irritating at the same time. I assume all similar Pioneer units have the same stupid tendencies.

Great head unit for a low price
Great head unit for the price. Touch screen is okay. The sounds is great from a factory deck. Whoever’s stuck in the 80-90’s and still needs a cd/dvd player just do yourself a favor and buy something much more basic....I used this because I needed a extra camera input for a front camera considering my backup cameras in my rearview Mirror & for the price you can’t go wrong
