I was able to take this apart and use the element to fix my 23 year old bosch that they no longer make parts for.

Actual element is removable and can be replaced on older models
I purchased this for my 15 year old Bosch SHX68.... hoping it just might fit since the pictures were very close. Well it wasn't an exact match, however, the actual element can be removed (4 heavy duty clips lock it in place) so I replaced just the element - not the entire assembly. Put the dishwasher all back together and success. Water is hot again and the dishes dry.
