I used this product to baste the jeans I made for my son in order to check the fit, etc. The thread is as strong as any cotton or polyester thread and stood up well to the process of fitting the pants. Because it is water soluble, I did not have to worry about removing basting, which I do whenever the basting might be visible on the outside of the garment. Once I finished sewing the pants, I washed them on a short cycle and all of the basting thread disappeared and left no residue.

My test of this thread was successful, it does dissolve in water. It turns into a jelly like blob, so lots of rinsing will be needed. It does not dissolve very well in warmer water like stabilizer does.
