Coral Reef Fishes: Indo-Pacific and Caribbean

I liked how the pictures were vibrant and the text was very informative!

I bought this book since I am a volunteer at the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta, Georgia. This book is a tremendous resouce especially in the Tropical Diver Exhibit which has many species of tropical fish. It is helpful in identification and lists the fish by scientific as well as common names. I would highly recommend this guide for fish identification, and many of the volunteers use this guide as their resource as well.

I love this compact and helpful little book. I shopped around a BUNCH before buying, and I feel confident I landed on the right book. I could easily spot my fish from the Maldives and the Red Sea!

It's a good book to identify fish with good photos. Very thorough. I could not ask for much more.A much for fish enthusiast to add to their library.

A great complement to the Paul Humann/Ned DeLoach books. Highly recommended. Covers many varieties and variants. Compact enough to take with on dive excursions.

So I was a bit disappointed that this book contains no photographs, but only drawings. The problem being that some of the fishes we saw in Hawai'i and French Polynesia are really hard to find in the book due to different colors in the wild compared to the drawings.Also, the names seems somewhat funny. Take for example the Hawai'ian reef triggerfish (Humuhumu-Nukunuku-Apua'a) which is called wedge picassofish in the book. Maybe that is the correct name, but I have always seen it called reef triggerfish everywhere else.Also, you really have to know your Ocean areas if you want to understand the very compact and cryptically abbreviated range descriptions for each fish.

Very handy for identifying fish when vacationing by the sea.

Bought this for a holiday in the Maldives, as I knew I'd be doing lots of snorkelling.It's easy to use, and quite portable.Images and descriptions are very good.I can't really comment on the range of species covered - suffice to say that every 'interesting' fish I saw was in there.

The drawings of the fishes are approximative, not very useful to try and identify a fish. Colours not very faithful either.
