A Great Look at Marvel's Silver and Bronze Age
As someone who started reading comics in 1970, I was excited to see this book on Amazon at an affordable price. Roy Thomas was a significant contributor to Marvel’s Silver and Bronze Age, and was acquainted with all the players, so I was very interested to read his take on those halcyon days. The book itself is beautifully bound with silver covers, and is packed with full-color illustrations of comic pages, covers, original art, and other related artifacts from the period. It’s a wonderful nostalgic ride for anyone who grew up reading those comics. My one quibble is that Roy Thomas’s writing is only featured in about 25 percent of the book. He gives a breezy overview of Marvel history in those days with some fun anecdotes, but nothing too detailed. Most of the pages in the book have pictures with captions written by others. So, yes, I would have liked more Roy, but I still really enjoyed the book. If you were a Marvel comics fan during that time period, or if you just want to learn more about where many of your favorite MCU characters came from, I highly recommend it.

Indispensable for true Marvel History fans.
Roy Thomas is part of Marvel history; he knows it; he's been there; he's helped to build everything that there is in the book. Taschen did no wrong by assigning him to the task. Of course, one can always desire more, it's no wonder they published a bigger one.Still, for the price cover, paper material, design, text, and some cool extra info, it's worth it.

Amazing book by someone who was there!
This is an amazing book by Roy Thomas who is a very important figure in Marvel's history. Great pictures and facts. Some obscure knowledge that I had never heard. Super enjoyable read!

Great book, very extensive historic chronology
While it may be similar to the larger book, it's much more manageable. This book is different from most other books on Marvel, the way he breaks down the historic significance is fantastic. Lots of great cover photos and interior art pages. A great lesson in comic book history.

Marvel history recalled by one of its history makers.
A comprehensive, well written history of Marvel's glory years, written by someone who was actually THERE, the great Roy Thomas. Lots of great illustrations as well. Well done, and well worth it.

A gorgeous well made digest of 75 years of Marvel
While I heartily agree with the other review I have to say it is not a companion to the other book. It is in fact a sub-set of the larger tome. If you own the larger book you in effect already have this. Having said that if you do not own Roy's 75 Years of Marvel this is great digest version that I would recommend as a cheaper alternative. It is really well made and certainly less of a body building exercise to read.

and excellent stuff.
This is the definitive history of how Marvel comics conquered the world, from the creation of the first modern superheroes through to the final departure of master artist Jack Kirby, by the man who succeeded Stan Lee as editor in charge of the whole line. Essential reading, and excellent stuff.

This was a treat-to-self and it didn't disappoint: beautifully presented account of Marvel's bronze age era, the artwork and presentation of this (substantial) hardback is a delight to flick through.
