convenient packaging
At room temperature, a quart of water will hold nearly 20 tablespoons. (It dissolves faster in hot water.) I usually make it much more dilute. With a squirt bottle and a brush, it's good for cleaning sinks and showers. In a pump-up sprayer, it's good for cleaning siding. In a kettle of hot water (not aluminum), it can be used to soak hard-to-clean items. For stained areas, a carpet-cleaning professional recommends a washing-soda solution with a few drops of dish liquid. I tried it and liked it. You spray it on, give it a few minutes to soften dirt, brush with a circular motion, and extract with a shop vac. He recommends vinegar in the rinse water. I use 1 tablespoon of vinegar per quart or 2 ounces per gallon.I keep a quart-size pump-up sprayer with a mix of 1 tablespoon washing soda, 1 tablespoon borax, and 2 tablespoons dish liquid per quart. It's useful at the kitchen sink, throughout the house, and outdoors. The detergent can keep oil from readhering to the item being washed. The borax buffers the washing soda to make it milder to the hands. It also inhibits the growth of microbes that would make a dish cloth smell.Arm & Hammer Washing Soda can be a little cheaper in a store, but they quit selling it locally. The stuff I ordered came by Priority Mail in three 5-pound ziplock bags. An opened Arm & Hammer box must be kept upright, but these bags can be stacked flat. Caking can make washing soda hard to pour from a box. A little mashing would break up any caking in a plastic bag. (I keep my ready supply in a coffee can for easy spooning.)

Hey. It's Soda Ash
I don't know if there is a variation in Soda Ash quality, but I use it for tie-dye, and always reorder because it tends to come in separate smaller ziplocks of 5# each, which is easier to handle for a small person like me. I like the packaging better than a paper sack because it saves trees and doesn't rip, break or spill. I just always order from these guys, and have not been disappointed.

Great product, great customer service
Use this for my pool, it's a very fine powder, dissolves quickly, never clumps up and is conveniently packaged. Had an issue with my last order and it was promptly taken care of by the DMSO Store.

Be very careful with this chemical. Chemical gloves, goggles and maybe a mask to breathe through.
I love the way it is packaged in thick plastic zip seal bags. I have used some of it to clean deer skulls. It did the job.
