very useful wifi-connected microcontroller
Obviously you will want to know how to program it, either in Python or C, but for what it is- a well supported, documented, and inexpensive microcontroller with wifi connection and plenty of I/O, it's my "go-to" choice. Definitely a step up from the older, cheaper wifi devices in my opinion.
