- Care Instruction: Though the item is pre-seasoned, we recommend the following steps prior to first use of the product: Scrub item well in hot soapy water and let dry Spread a thin layer of melted shortening or vegetable oil over the item Place it upside down on a middle oven rack at 375°. (Place foil on a lower rack to catch drips.) Bake 1 hour; let cool in the oven. If you have no oven, place it on gas stove till the smoke comes out and let it cool down naturally.
