This is an unusual cookbook. New Orleans has long been a city and state of colorful characters. Al Copeland was one for sure! This book tells the story of his rise to the public eye through his determination and innovative spicy chicken. It's full of photos and stories and truths that people don't and didn't know about Big Al. It's a fun book with many recipes from Copeland's Restaurant and family secrets...it even tells how to make some of Al's secret spice mixtures. It's a fun romp through the New Orleans of the 1980's. HIGHLY recommend this story/cookbook. Well done Copeland kids! Thank you.

Copeland's Restaurant has been one of my favorite places to dine for years. Not every dish is featured in this cookbook, but there are many and I can't wait to try them for myself. Al Copeland is famous in New Orleans for his flamboyant Christmas decorations and his great food. I enjoyed reading the history of Big Al and his success story. This book is a treasure!

This book was a purchase for my mother how loves cooking and recipes. When she opened the package I could here the joy in her voice as she said OMG this is a heavy book, oh boy it's beautiful 😍. I heard the pages turning and her smile growing; then she said I'll call you later ( laughing with joy).

I liked the stories of the family and to know that the Copeland family did so much for Merkle Cell carsonoma.

Lots of incredible recipes. I have cooked some of the recipes and loved them very much as did my company. Al Copeland has a unique was of cooking that I love.

I purchased this book as a present for my dad who worked for Copelands. This is a wonderful memoir filled with stories and recipes of a legend in New Orleans. What a great book!

No crab cake and shrimp Alfredo? No steak labachere. It definitely needs more! It's not too bad overwise. I'm still happy with the purchase
