Perfect to have rich looking teak
We bought the cleaner, brightener, & sealer combo. I would imagine that most cleaners & brighteners will work similarly. What I like about the sealer is that we didn’t want the oiliness of teak oil, nor the hassle of a varnish/lacquer finish (ie, starts to break through in spots and then need to pretty much strip & refinish to keep it looking good). With this sealer, no taping is necessary, it soaks in and you can wipe excess off fiberglass edges with clean rag and will dry quickly on a sunny day (couple hours). If any excess dries on fiberglass can use 3M cleaner-wax and comes right off. As long as you initially cleaned & brightened the teak, it then looks very rich, even if subject to sun & rain. Two negatives: if subject to sun & rain, you’ll need to apply a new coat every 6 weeks (but that is quick & easy to do and shouldn’t require any cleaner or brightener). The other negative is that it doesn’t hold up to standing water (ie. Low spots on a swim platform) where puddles frequently form - but I doubt oil or varnish would either.

Wow Factor!
I think of this product as the Wow Factor! Why? This teak sealer was very easy to apply. It was not messy at all. I applied it in my large kitchen with plastic on the floor. I was concerned about fumes, but there were no heavy fumes. The fumes were little to none for me. Lastly, the finish project came out very pleasingly. I thought I was maybe a little heavy handed, but it turned out great with plenty product left over.

Made the teak look nice, but not great at sealing
So, I bought this for a teak shower chair that I wanted to keep from water damage. I cleaned it really well, let air dry a day and then applied the teak sealer. It was very easy to apply, pretty much like a stain, and the teak color was enhanced nicely. I put about 4-5 coats on thinking that should last a good while. After about 4 months I was seeing black streaks in the wood beginning and had to take it outside to deep clean and seal again. Never got more than a few months of use and some of the black streaks wouldn't come out of the wood grain.I finally ended up taking the whole chair apart, sanding it down to bare wood, and using Epifanes sealer with several coats (sanded in between) instead. I could tell the difference immediately using the Epifanes sealer and regretted wasted so much time and effort using this Teak Sealer. A bit more effort and time on the front end using the Epifanes, but worth it for the finish and actual water sealing ability. This sealer might be good for light duty items that don't get much water exposure, but I do not think this product is decent as an actual sealer -- more like a teak oil application.

So easy to apply
I put 3 coats of this product on some unfinished, new teak chaise lounges. The application is SO easy. It goes on more like a stain rather than those thick drippy varathane type of coatings. I haven't used the chairs long enough to speak on the durability. Its clear but will darken your teak. Test it first. I like the rich color.Update: please note that you should reapply every 6 months as suggested on the product. My teak lounge chairs where in direct sun and rain etc. and started to fade. I've since purchased covers.

This product really works!!!
I used this product to restore the teakwood on my newly purchased 1988 Grady White Tournament 190. The teak on this boat is 32 years old. 32 years of saltwater and sun. The wood was completely gray and saturated with salt. You only need a little teak cleaner at a time and if you follow the directions, you will be amazed with the results. I used a stiff brush to apply it and make sure that you let it sit for a minute or two and then work it in with the grain of the wood and then thoroughly rinse it off with fresh water --- I used a power washer. I could see all of the salt coming out of the wood. After it dried, it was like new. I mean, I was blown away!! I never write reviews and nobody forced me to write this one so it's from the heart. I highly recommend it with enthusiasm!!
