Just received my Staunton no 7 chess set and i am really pleased with the pieces and the quality, the finish is very good and they are nicely weighted and felted. They are great value for the money, recommended.

Arrived in a cardboard box, each colour of pieces was in it's own plastic bag, the white ones in a zip lock type food bag, the black ones in a ripped plastic bag, so initially I wasn't too impressed. When unpacked and on a board though they look great, big, chunky and value for money. Unless you're going to leave them out on display you'll need a box to put them back into, but that's pretty standard for wooden sets of this size. Overall, I'm very happy with them.

I have just received my order of these chess pieces and I cannot express how delighted I am with my purchase. There are a number of specific points about my experience that I wish to highlight. (1) The delivery was extremely quick; I had my chess pieces in my possession within 24 hours of making the order.The retailer was able to beat its own estimated delivery time by more than fifty percent. (2) The pieces are way better than their description in the Amazon listing. From the pictures one cannot form an accurate idea of how big and chunky the pieces are. The pieces are absolutely gorgeous; the size, the weight, the colour and the lacquer, the general quality of the finish, everything is perfect. I have inspected each piece very carefully for defects such as cracks, chips, variation in colour; none were discovered. I have a very good mind to declare these pieces a work of art! (3) My final point is to do with the price. I deem these to be very competitively priced. I have seen a review where the buyer has lamented the fact that the pieces come in a polythene bag rather than a wooden box. My view is thatthis criticism is unjustified; the lack of a storage box is immaterial. The retailer could very easily haveincluded a box but then the quality of the pieces would have suffered. I myself rather pay for the actual pieces than a fancy wooden box that might come with them. My final verdict: Don't think twice about buying these. They are excellent in every respect. Even if you don't play chess, they have enough merit and decorative value to be part of your interior design!(What I have written above is my own honest opinion, I am not being directed by anyone. Era quanto mi aspettavo e corrisponde alla descrizione.

Buscaba unas piezas de ajedrez para hacer un regalo. Son perfectas, bonitas y madera!!! Un gran hallazgo.

La presentación no es la mejor, vienen en una simple bolsa de plástico, como las de comida y en una caja de cartón (supongo que para ahorrar costes). En cuanto a las piezas, bueno, en primer lugar, están bien rematadas, sin defectos apreciables. El tamaño es grande, Staunton 7, aunque la base del Rey es de sólo 3'5 cm. El rey pesa 45 g, no dudo que estén plomadas pero las tengo más pequeñas (Staunton 6 y pesan más). Hay mucha diferencia entre la altura del rey y las demás piezas, la dama y sobre todo la torre parecen pequeñas, el alfil es muy grande, demasiado, diría yo. Para hacerse una idea yo las he puesto en un tablero con escaques (cuadrados) de 6 cm y no quedan mal para mi gusto (ya digo que son grandes) porque yo prefiero el tablero que no parezca tan recargado. Creo que el tamaño ideal para estas piezas sería tableros con escaques de 5'5 cm, aunque ya digo, en uno de 6 cm quedan bien.Desde luego, tienes piezas mucho más caras, mejor barnizadas, con mejor diseño, etc. Yo estuve mirando bastante antes de comprar y creo que estas son lo mejor que vas a encontrar a este precio en madera. No les doy 5 estrellas porque creo que deberían pesar algo más, acorde con el tamaño que tienen, y porque la presentación no es la mejor. En resumen buenas piezas por lo que pagas.
