Keeps out Argentine variety of ants
This bowl works well to deter the now pervasive Argentine variety of ants from cat food. The similar twin bowl product sold on Amazon also works well, but this single bowl is more convenient to clean, and as a practical matter, ants are not attracted to water in a bowl. The bowl appears well made of plastic. The product was shipped apparently from the factory in China via China Post connecting to the U.S. Postal Service, arriving 22 calendar days after ordering.

Not the best for messy eaters
Ehh. Generally ok but if your pets are like mine they are likely to knock or dribble their food out of the bowl and into the water trough. It turns out that creates a nice little bridge across the moat for ants. Bottom line - didn't stop the ants. If your pet is a neat eater though this should work well.

Water trough is too small
The water trough is too small. The water evaporated and ants go marching on.

Ants still stacking food
Good for the water, but ants got into the dry food dish despite the “ moat”, which really should be wider to do the trick , like the Romans did

These bowls are very large and will be good for times that we go out of town and need to leave large amounts of food out for our 4 cats. However, I was disappointed that there was no assurances of the quality of the plastic that they are made of (such as BPA free or Recycleable) Our cats didn't seem to like them at first. May be because they are so big and they don't like sticking their noses down into the bowl. They have seemed to become more acceptable to the cats lately. I still wish I was more comfortable with the content or possible content of the plastic.

Great for keeping ants out
This bowl has been great so far for keeping ants out of the cat food. We are caring for a feral cat and need to leave food out overnight. Other bowls were full of ants the next morning, but not this one. Can't really tell from the picture but it does have some water in it. We fill it all the way in the evening.

Does the trick!!
Very tall! I had my cat dishes in front of the liquor cabinet and when I open the door now it hits the cat dish, so be aware, maybe about two inches tall or so. Other than that, these are fantastic. Those ants can't get to the food! Sometimes kitty eats like a slob and drops cat food into the "moat" water. So rinse and clean periodically and you'll be fine.
