The American School, A Global Context: From the Puritans to the Obama Administration

Sometimes I get sleepy when reading this book but that's probably b/c we are assigned lots to read in a short time for my grad class!! I can say, the book has REALLY OPENED MY EYES to how racism has been a huge part of education in America. For that I am grateful to the book for teaching me a lot.

This book gives you an idea of why the school systems are the way they are, and why nobody that can fix them will fix them. It will open your eyes to how the american school system is failing and how all of our changes we have made are to maintain this system. Great read, was required reading for class. Still recommend it.

Very enlightening

It is informative, but the same trends repeat again and again. The author does not do a good job at changing the presentation of racism in schools. The same words. It gets boring hearing the same explanations.
